RE: Quit blaming the defense
If you need to place blame, it was a team effort. Somebody should have stood up and said 'not today' but what we got was 'try not to lose'. The offense had opportunities (The interception is what we didn't need), the defense had a DB get the ball thrown straight into his hands and he dropped it and special team missed a game winning field goal. I wanted them to win just as much as anyone but I am so damn proud of them, I can over look the losses cause they didn't quit. They held their destiny in their own hands. To put it simply Houston escaped. This is valuable learning experience for the future of TIGER FOOTBALL.

Not to those who do not have their heads up his anus. No defense can spend almost 11 minutes out of 15 minute quarter on the field and not get worn out.

A defense wouldn't have to spend 11 minutes on the field if they knew how to play defense and could get a stop.

When your offense gives the ball away your defense has to go back in the game. Ever noticed that?

They did. They have lived on the edge all year. And the offense usually bales them out by scoring big points. I hate like heck we lost to freaking Houston again, but Temple is next. I hope they can bounce back and stay revalent.

Exactly. If a defense allows a team to control the field and score then that’s their bad. Our defense was pretty good against a run-first QB but God awful against a backup QB whose only choice for a comeback was the pass.

If I was an opposing coach I’d never run the ball.

They missed 5 opportunities to sack him...That was the killer of the whole situation.

This game we had a period where the defense did not get off the field and sat down before they were right back on the field. Started with a two play drive which ended up in a fumble. Then after the defense held on downs and held Houston out of the end zone. The offense comes back out with another 2 play drive that ended up in an interception. The defense tried but back to back turnover led to a TD. Then they get back on the bench and the offense comes right back with a three and out.

How could you blame any defense who spent most of the second half on the field? All the offense had to do is to get one more first down in any of those three series and we win.

Houston averages 525 yards per game and the defense held them to less than 400. Houston averages 275 yards rushing and the defense held them to less than 100.

The defense did it's job when they were able to get off the field and rest.

The defense played great but we have issues in the secondary. We needed just one more stop in the fourth quarter.

Our fumble and interception didn't help matters.

Houston got a couple of lucky throws that just fell in the hands of a receiver with three Tigers around him.

That fumble was a killer. Maybe the turning point of the game.

Yup. All three phases of the game contributed to the loss.

RE: Quit blaming the defense
Ya know, 1) the miraculous one hand interception of a bullet Paxton pass by the LINEMAN, 2) Houston receiver pulling it out of the air with 4 Tigers within 5 ft. surrounding him, 3) The Dropped lob interception by a Tiger that would have ended the drive/game, 4) The missed punt by the best punter in the country that would have won the game, 5) Just one more stop of any of the five successful Houston drives, plus any other number of single plays made by us . . .

And we would have WON THAT GAME.

Maybe just wasn't meant to be. FATE is a monster at times . . .
