2015-16 Men's Basketball Standings
SCHOOL OVERALL
SMU 9-0
Houston 8-1
Cincinnati 10-2
Memphis 7-3
UConn 7-3
Tulsa 7-4
East Carolina 7-5
UCF 5-4
Tulane 6-6
Temple 5-5
USF 3-9

Cincy's losses are to two top 10-12 teams (Xavier and Butler on a buzzer-beater)) and wins over #21 George Washington, VCU and Nebraska.

VCU is not that great of a win. They check in around 144 for RPI. Need to beat ISU or the non conf will look pretty weak only beating 1 of the 4 good teams UC has played.

As a conference we had multiple chances to prove our worth,we failed miserably.

I'm just glad SMU isn't in the conference tourney this year. Hopefully Cincy & UConn have decent enough conference records to get at large bids and then a Tulsa or Houston can make a run in the conference tourney and we get 3 in.

Made reservations for the 29th. I'm ready to defile Tulsa

Wouldn't surprise me if you did, considering that game is scheduled at the worst time imaginable. They might as well just played it in West Virginia. We're not going to have any fan presence.

UConn just defeated Central Connecticut of the Northeast Conference. Instate games like this are frequently scheduled as a kind of political favor to someone, but even so the fact remains that CCSU is generally the lowest-rated team in Division I.

But UConn won so it's all good. You can only beat the teams on your schedule so it's good that UConn took care of business.

I rather play CCSU then Alabama Little House in the Prairie that nobody ever heard of. This game was actually a blessing because we just lost our starting Center Amida Brimah yesterday with a broken finger for at least 6 weeks.

The view from afar is different from the view from up close. CCSU is coached by a longtime UConn assistant who happens to be great friends with Ollie. They have been to the NCAA tourney in the past, and they recently beat a conference team that just beat an ACC team. They are a very bad basketball team--that much is true, but they are no different than any of the other cupcakes that teams tend to schedule.

And UConn can hardly be criticized for any perceived RPI scheduling mishaps given UConn has the strongest OOC in the conference.

No offense...but no one outside the little town where something called Central Connecticut State Univ is located in has every heard about it.

I, and maybe plenty of others, have heard of Alabama Little House in the Prairie before (strong spring sports, good women's lacrosse and rowing).*

A cupcake is a cupcake I much rather UConn help/support our in state schools then Charles Ingalls and fam.

Besides CCSU's coach used to be a former UConn assistant coach.

Wow! I step away for a few hours, and not only have been deemed a troll, but a worse troll than GreenWave16!! There's just so much anger in the world these days...

Anyway, if there is any team in the league that has earned the right to do its OOC-schedule anyway it wants to, then UConn is obviously that team. And virtually every team, no matter what the competitive level, attempts to schedule at least a few "can't lose" games, so I wasn't criticizing the Huskies for that, either. It's just that earlier today I was skimming the masseyratings.com site and realized that UConn was playing the team ranked #351 (out of 351 total) among all Division I teams nationwide: http://masseyratings.com/cb/compare.htm

By the way, playing games against instate little-brother programs -- and especially ones coached by former Husky assistants -- is a class move by Ollie and UConn, so good on them for that. I figured there was some additional angle here and that's a righteous one.

There was no question asking why the game was scheduled - it came across as criticism/taking a dig.

And it seemed odd coming from you since you are one of the few Tulane posters in the green. Thanks for the explanation and please disregard my reply.

I know this is a generational thing but I just figured everybody knew that Little House on the Prairie is about a family in Wisconsin.

It's weird to have this discussion a second time but a few years ago somebody made a Little House reference in a conversation and the way they said it, it was obvious they thought it had been about a family in Alabama. Since I lived in AL for many years I asked why they thought that, and it turned out they were getting Laura Ingalls Wilder confused with Helen Keller, lol.

I believe it was Minnesota (like it matters) but they made a few trips to Mankato which is in Minnesota.

Ingalls Wilder was born in Brookfield, Wisconsin (now a Milwaukee suburb)

Cincy is 0-2 against the conference they wish they were in (Big East).

Also pretty sure we played the entire MEAC without any repeats 03-lmfao

That BE died,it doesn't exist anymore. The new BE is a lot better b-ball conference than the AAC.
