Santos and company were talking on the broadcast about how Forbes did not want to run too many sets because he didn't want Green Bay to see anything. Smart man

Agree I thought Holley played well in the limited minutes. I was surprised he only played 8 minutes but it seemed like Forbes wanted to go more small for this game.

Small worked extremely well against Averett. They were undersized and couldn't hope to match our small guys in athleticism.

I also wonder if Forbes didn't want to show what he will show against Green Bay, thus keeping bigs on the bench.

To follow up on the "no bigs" policy - 8 minutes to Jurkin, 6 minutes to Holley, 4 minutes to Stokes.

With an athletic, muscular front court led by 6'7" 225 All-Horizon Jordan Fouse, 6'9" 245 Kerem Kanter and 6'8" 230 Kenneth Lowe, I would hazard a little guess that we will see a VERY different lineup versus Green Bay.

By the way, it looks like the decision NOT to redshirt Stokes has been taken, right?

Coach Forbes said on post game comments Saturday that Stokes was NOT being red shirted. Said Shemar Johnson was.

In the category of long, left handed guards, it seems clear that Desonta is ready to rock this year. Shemar will be in the near future - red shirt is a good choice this year.

I like the Toriano Stokes decision - I think by the end of the year, we will be glad to have him available for action.

Like I said earlier redshirting Stokes next year makes more sense. All our Bigs are coming back plus 2 more setting out this year. But after that Stokes will be last man standing.

Yeah I also think redshirting next year makes sense. If we don't he will be spending his season on the bench, there just isn't enough roster space for all the bigs next year, which is an interesting problem to have.

I'm just sick and tired of rosters stuffed with players 6'8", 6'9" and 7'0". 03-wink

We talk about the height of these guys. I just want to know the official number on Peter Jurkin's wingspan.

Although there was one play where Averett's player was NOT intimidated by Jurkin. It was cute to see the little guy bounce right up against a tree. Granted he did make the shot, so I gave him credit for the courage. I think Peter was just surprised that the kid had so much gumption that he didn't attempt to block it.

I had this question recently. Have we actually had a true 7 footer before Jurkin? Greg Dennis and the late Seth Coy came close at 6'11 (right?), but that's the closest I'm aware of.

I think back in the Sonny Smith days ETSU had a 7-foot plus fella who was called Dr. Z. He was the last person put into the game....but he was tall!

Not positive but I believe Eric Palmer was the shortest at 5'6''

I remember Dr. Z., and he excelled every time he took the floor . . . that would be the dance floor . . . at Tu La Fe . . . where he incorporated splits into his dance moves. Pretty impressive for a 7-footer.

Impressive on the basketball court? Not so much.

EDIT: That is Rodney English for the younger fans.
I wish to deeply and sincerely apologize to Rodney English. I stupidly
let a good game against a High School team lead me astray. If we are lucky maybe Bello will be half the player English was before the season is over.

Bello has shown to be a below average ball handler who makes bonehead fouls (2 that I remember that he fouled on end bound plays before the ball was in play when it was silly to do so) and an average shooter. Hopefully he can turn it around.
