I was watching the Falcons-Jags game on ESPN last night and saw the Steve Spurrier lovefest commercial on next week's game. I can understand that, I guess, but am I the only one that gets tired of ESPN constantly calling us "C. Florida" instead of "UCF"?
All the other networks seem to get it, why not ESPN? Are they too busy coming up with catchy sayings like "Booyah" to care?

They are ignorant and slow. Hopefully, with more success on our part, they'll catch on.

Nope.

What other side dish could ESPN screw you guys up with?? Mashed Potatos? Corn? Peas?
We've been asking the media to use 'UCF' for nearly 10 years now!! Are they that far behind the times??? Booyah!!!

In my fantasies, ESPN drools all over themselves to do a jock-sniffing interview with Daunte or Asante Samuel, and they do a Jim Gray on 'em and say "no, if you can't get my school name right, I have nothing to say to you".
I can see Stuart Scott's face melting onto his shoes in my mind.

I'm not Steve Orsini but I get your point.
I still hate it, though, when someone is doing it wrong and refuses to listen. I can tell you that I know of at least six alumni besides myself that's tried to tell ESPN over the years.
But they apparently don't care. Just ask the center fielder for the Braves, AHN-druw Jones. It's not right, he's told them over and over again that it's pronounced AN-druw (he said so in a local interview), but hey -- it's sexy, right? Isn't that what it's all about at ESPN? Don't pay attention to facts as long as you can be sufficiently glib?
Go UCF, beat the visor!

I've lived in Orlando for over 30 years. Not once have I heard anyone here refer to the school as "Central Florida." I don't get why the national media calls the school by that name, but I don't give it much thought.
One other thing I don't get: If our athletic department is so diehard about being called "UCF," then why are there stores on the UCF main campus selling clothes with "Central Florida" on them? I don't think our athletic department really cares if we're called "UCF" or "Central Florida" as long as we're in the national news either way.
