Nick Marshall article in CA
In discussing the teaching he has gotten as to how to play as a center vs how to play as a PF, he only person he gives credit to is Shaq.

I guess while Pastner is racking his brain trying to figure out how to change the pre game meal to get the best results, Shaq is coaching the big men.

The only thing I don't understand is, if Shaq is teaching Nick how to play center and PF, how will that conflict when Pastner starts teaching them how to play positionless basketball??

Josh, if you read this board, have an ounce of integrity and just pack up and leave Memphis and the program behind. Find something you are good at, and do that.

RE: Nick Marshall article in CA
It never ceases to amaze me how all of us, and I'm talking about mankind, basically see what we want to see in most situations. If you're positive about something, you see something a certain way, but if you're negative, you'll see the same situation differently. The OP chose to see the article from a negative slant because he's negative concerning CJP, I don't blame him, I understand. I didn't read the article, but based on what he quoted, you could also be pleased that Shaq is acting like an upperclassman, and approach it that way, as opposed to taking another dig at Pastner. I'm already dreading the season starting because I realize that the negativity is going to make it unbearable for me to read this forum. Yes, it's time for a parting of the ways, but sheesh, the enjoyment of the team is going to be hard. It's hard as heck to live with someone that's selfish, or someone that's negative. And the negativity here is way over the top.

We've tried to be positive and it never gets any better. Only worse. That positivity has caused tons of transfers over the last few years. Bobby Knight wrote a book about the power of negative thinking. Maybe it's time for that.

Force feeding positivity is a no-no. Sooner or later, you get exactly what we have now--some very negative results/reactions.

A certain amount of positivity works for awhile, but hard core positve thinking doesn't work forever--the length of 'forever' varies according to the situation.

That's been my experience, watching people do it for decades. Maybe positive thinking works in the long run, i.e. centuries....?

Kata training...Whenever you do something the very first time, it connects synapses and neurotransmitters that make it much easier for you to do something again and again. It also makes it much more likely that you will do something again and again. You biologically lay tracks in your brain to think and react certain ways.

Minimal negativity leads to majority negativity. Majority negativity leads to Miserables.

At least that's what the guy at Holiday Inn Express told me this morning.
