RE: Beamer retiring
I think we have backed into at least a couple of FBS games over the years when a seemingly full schedule became open when an opponent backed out or TV offered a sweet deal in another game that required switching weeks.

Beamer retiring

I think they'll need to be at a top bcs level and we aren't a top Fcs team for them to feel confident enough to schedule us. We're probably still a threat.
I'm sure they're glad Heineke's replacement doesn't look to be as good as him with odu games coming up soon.

Our defense could probably use a new DC. . . I am sure he will end up with a P5 team if he is fine with being a DC. A HC job could be harder to get.

Reports coming out that Justin Fuente, current HC of Memphis, will be the next head coach at Tech. Foster will stay on as DC.

Unbelievable- if UVA holds on to beat vajayjay tech and ODuh holds on to beat FAU, then Ole Dirty will be the only bowl eligible team in the great commonwealth of VA.

Well, old dirty is staying home. Now, if UVA can pull off the upset, the only VA football teams playing will be from the CAA.

I haven't even looked at the score yet. Did ole dirty really just lose to a shi.tty FAU team? If so, that's the first losing season in school history. Interested to see how the fans react to that. The two season "win-loss" forgiveness window for FBS wears off after this season.

They did lose today, but had they won they were bowl eligible (so I'm assuming 6 wins)...haven't really paid attention to them, so I suspect they finished 5-7?

5-7. Worst record so far in new program history.

FootballScoop is saying Shane Beamer may not be back at VT. He was rumored to be one of JMU's HC candidates two years ago. If Withers leaves I wonder if that'll be the case again. I don't know if he's actually any good or not though.

I believe this dance is the surest sign that Frank made the correct choice and it was time for him to go.

Would be a hell of a recruiter in-state, IMO. We could do a lot worse.
