Southern Miss has fought like crazy to climb out of hole. Wish we were still in a conference with you guys.

Kind of cute to see Southern Miss begin to get some swagger back.

I don't know of a Marshall fan that doesn't want USM to not be successful. Congrats on being bowl eligible. USM will likely be the league favorite next year. Jmo

I'm just upset we aren't in the same division anymore and that the other 4 teams with conference seniority are all going to be in the west.

Congrats USM fans. Yeah, us MU fans sure do hate you guys... Having said that bit of s*itty sarcasm, LaTech and you guys in the west hopefully will be duking it out for the next 20+yrs. for the west title. Love both programs. Welcome back Eagles. And if they want to punt you away, the East will be more than happy for you to move back home.

Talked with someone who is really knowledgeable about our football program. He gives Zac Woodfin as much credit as the coaches for the turnaround in USM football. It is very visible when you see our team's stamina in the fourth qtr this year and increase in agility and speed. I imagine that there will be a strong push to give Woodfin another sizable increase in income to try and retain him. I love watching him on our sideline during a game interacting with the players and getting excited with them.

It is great being bowl eligible again. I personally know this is selfish but I don't want the N.O. Bowl...just saying. Anyway, stupid question but doesn't each win after 6 guarantee a higher bowl than the N.O. bowl? I always remembered that the 6-6 team would in the NO bowl. Just looking for clarification. I honestly have forgotten well, because of the past 3 years.

If I'm not mistaken, the Champ chooses, then the league assigns the teams with input from our bowl eligible schools.

Basically they are gonna work it out to your school's preference unless someone higher than you has the same preference. Win the Conference and you get to go where ever you want. I for one do not want to go to the NOLA bowl either but would gladly take it over any of the eastern bowls. HOD is the #1 choice by almost all Tech fans anyway.

Bill McGillis and Todd Monken will do everything in their power to keep Woodfin...$$$

RE: BOWL ELIGIBLE
Almost sounds like they came up with that bowl selection format after when USM picked the Hawaii bowl back in 2011.

We aren't a big enough conference to simply designate bowls by a tier system. 15K fans aren't gonna travel across the country to see a bowl the day after Christmas in CUSA like they would for the SEC. Matching Bowls to best fit each eligible program makes sense. I mean Marshall won the Conference last year and should have gone to the HOD to face Illinois, but that wouldn't have made any sense whatsoever. Playing in their home state of Florida had far more upside. I imagine WKU playing in Florida would be the smarter play then traveling all the way to Texas. I know Rice, UTEP, TECH, UTSA and UNT reap huge benefits from playing a P5 in the Cotton Bowl. I imagine the Miami Beach Bowl against a quality team like Memphis, Temple, Houston, or Navy would be big for WKU or Marshall.
