I'm guessing Boone has to be incredibly frustrated. Everyone around us in the stadium is asking why Boone isn't getting more carries. I bet he is too.
Yeah, let's pound the ball with Boone in a blowout win so he can re-aggravate or worsen his injury going into the Houston game
Guessing lots of people don't listen to Dan, Jim Kelly Jr and Tony Pike when they watch the game.

Hard to do that when actually at the game. What did they say?

To be fair, the announcers yesterday did say something about tubervilles intent of possibly redshirting Boone. Seems like a stretch to me but it is out there.

Right, because that's what was meant by that comment.
News flash, Boone was getting way less carries than the other RBs before being injured. And he's by far the most talented. I expect him to continue to be underutilized against Houston next week too.

I believe he has been hurt all season to some extent.

RE: UCF game thread
I found the attendance embarrassing. I also found it embarrassing that almost everyone was gone at the end. We seldom leave before the end. If UC is winning or could win we stay until it is impossible for UC to win.
In the last several years the last time we left games was last year when Memphis was killing us and at WVU when we were getting killed in Jones's first year.

My philosophy is if one of the teams obviously quits I'll leave but that doesn't happen often. UCF quit yesterday I have no problem with anyone who left although I was there till the end.
Memphis last year is one of the few I've left early.

That's what I thought, but the announcers were perplexed about red shirting your best running back.

Though if I were a student, I would have been gone at halftime to head to the bars. The game was already over, for all intents and purposes.

I think there is a big difference between the most talented running back getting the bulk of the carries and who should run the ball during garbage time in a blowout.
Boone hasn't looked hurt the past several games in terms of speed, cutting ability and power.
This comes down to TT's philosophy of using multiple backs and that is why he is paid the big bucks to make those kinds of decisions. I just don't happen to agree with that philosophy.

News flash: I saw him limp off the field and receive treatment against UConn last week. Also, he appeared to get hurt in the third(Miami) game of the season and he didn't even dress for the Memphis or U of Miami games. He may even have been injured before then, but since I don't have access to the medical staff's private weekly e-mails about who's hurt, like you apparently do, I wouldn't know that. I do know that although he's the most talented back running the ball, he's a distant third when it comes to pass protection( per Eddie Gran at a Bearcat Faithful Luncheon), and with an injury prone QB like Gunner they're not gonna put a guy out there who's more likely to get Kiel lit up. Maybe that's why he only had 6 carries for a wretched 16 yards against Temple where Gunner threw it 52 times.

I remember reading he was hurt at the start of the season (ankle), and took limited reps at the start of the season, sat out Memphis or U of Miami, and still may not be 100%.

If he's hurt he shouldn't be playing. If he's hurt then it doesn't reflect well on the other RBs as he still has exponentially better burst, balance and cutting ability than the other RBs. No reason to even give him 3 carries if hurt. The staff had no problem playing 'injury prone' Kiel into the 3rd quarter up 40 against UCF. The staff must have different philosophies when dealing with injury prone players.
And I'm aware he went out against Miami, and at that point he was being woefully underutilized. He should've gotten a lot more carries against Temple and only had 4 carries (for 118 yes) before being injured against Miami. That was half as many carries as Hosey had to that point.
The folks around us were joking that it was a good thing Ralph transferred or Boone would be the 4th string RB.

What was the context of Gran's comments about pass protection Jackie? If they are keeping Boone third in the rotation based on his ability (or inability) to pass protect then I have even less respect for the Staff. Yes, pass protection is one role of a running back but the primary role is to run the ball effectively, and as an added bonus, catch the ball out of the backfield. Boone has demonstrated the ability to be the best at these two aspects IMO. I understand in certain situations you sub for Boone but I have not seen any reason yet to keep him third in the rotation.
In terms of Gunner's "injury prone" nature, part of that is the mind-numbing QB run plays this Staff seems hell bent on calling and the fact that in many instances he has hung on to the ball too long and takes unnecessary shots.

RE: UCF game thread
Kiel ran the ball four times in UC's first 10 plays yesterday, causing me to yell at my TV. Kiel is one big hit from a season-ending injury and we are running him like he is Eric Dickerson or Barry Sanders. Tion Green limped off yesterday, and yes, Boone replaced him for one series and then Hosy Williams was in for the following series, and then, lol and behold, Green reappears with Boone pacing the sideline. Meanwhile, Banschbach rushes 17 times, and about 8 rushes in a row and looks absolutely exhausted at game's end. Who knew we had a Jerome Bettis on our team.

Horsey Williams has 237 career carries for UC and has netted 1,341 rushing yards. That computes to 5.7 yards per carry. Those are good numbers and with that production Hosey has earned his PT. I do think Boone is the best of the three backs and should get more carries but I can't rip the staff for running a guy who gets almost 6 yards per carry.

Yep, we've got an overall great offense and running game with 3 quality RBs who are all productive with complementary skill sets. This whole issue is a complaint in search of a problem. Par for the course around here...

Don't think anyone has said the Bearcat coaches shouldn't use Hosey or Tion. The point is when you have a running back who has been so clearly the best running back, he should get more than a few carries a game. I think Boone should be getting at least half the carries. He's just too good to be relegated to an afterthought on this team.
