RE: Fuente being looking at for South Carolina job...
I think there are better jobs out there for Fuente, but I wouldn't blame him for considering any type of SEC job. I'll cheer him when/if he does make a move (unless it's to UT or Ole Miss). But, I do hope to have him on our sideline for many years to come.

Taking the job at South Carolina would be a bad move.

Rich Rod? UA would have to fire him for him to leave, plus I think his daughter is a cheerleader there... Expectations there are very modest and chill in a relatively chill conference, far less intense and cutthroat than SEC...

His name is going to be on almost every list when an opening comes up. No need to worry about it.

Money is not going to keep him. If a job opens up which he feels will be a right move for him he is gone. Doesn't really matter how much money we come up with.
And he is not going to interview for other jobs just to get a raise from the U of M. If he interviews it is because he is seriously considering the move.

Well.. The money ALWAYS matters. You certainly aren't going to keep him for any 1.4M. And there are other moving parts to him possibly staying, which do include the money. And yes .. like any other coach in the country, he would leave for what he thinks is best for him and his family.

RE: Fuente being looking at for South Carolina job...
The dream candidate for SC is Mark Dantonio. He's a SC grad & current Mich St head coach. He's likely very happy at MSU but you never know about guys and the school from which they graduated. But SC will make that serious inquiry before doing anything else. Also the current interim will be Spurrier's choice & although he has stated clearly he won't attempt to influence the decision, the SC admin already knows where Spurrier stands. Sc is not a good job for a young coach wanting to move up. SC is a small state with limited recruits & following Spurrier is not what most up and coming coaches will want. SC will pay big $$$ & that could influence a name coach who would like to coast for a few years much like Lou Holtz did.

I said my source was very reliable. But, here is what may be happening as well. Fuente's price tag goes up with each win. So, expect to see him in the $5 to $6 million range it he wins the remaining games including a bowl game. Fuente is VERY HOT and S Carolina wants him. My guess is....he is their #1 prospect right now unless we lose 2 or more games this year. All things point to Houston and Temple as key games. The more games we win....the more Bowen and Rudd need to think about their options and the depths of our pockets. I really hope we can keep Justin but there are so many factors at play here, including the influence of Gary Patterson and why he felt it important that he stay at TCU. I think if I was Bowen, I would be calling the AD at TCU and discussing why Patterson was convinced to stay at TCU and see if we can make the same pitch and offer to Fuente. The comparisons here between us and TCU are fairly evident.

I don't think he is in the top 3. I know Fuente is for sure.

I will just say this if you had 3,000 die hard Tiger fans each willing to give $1,000 a year for 5 years to maintain Fuente as coach how hard would that be? Thats 3,000,000 a year . If I was Bowen I would be getting commitments and give him the money he deserves to stay here and show B12 we mean business.

If money is the issue we can get the money to match most other offers. So money will not be the issue. He left money on the table on his latest contract extension.
