I'm pretty sure you mean Georgia Southern. Georgia State won't be going to a bowl game of any kind for a very long time.

RE: Access Bowl Spot
I dont think BG is eliminated if they run the table and a 2 loss Temple or something wins the AAC. When losses are early, you can sneak back into the picture. Two wins over Toledo, and a win over a 6-2 WMU in MAC play would be resume boosters. Say Tennessee gets to a bowl... Their offense score's a lot.

I hope to god that doesn't happen, but of the few teams that can make it, they're still on life support.

Yep, Georgia Southern. They whipped WMU early this year in a disappointing showing for WMU. They have a great rushing offense.

I don't mean to be pessimistic but I think Toledo is the only MAC team with a realistic shot at the Access Bowl.

RE: Access Bowl Spot
Iowa State smoked Texas on Saturday and Arkansas took down Tennessee-Martin.

Arkansas State is still undefeated in the Sun Belt and will take on App State on Thursday in a game that should determine the Sun Belt champ. The final three games for Arkansas State after App will be against three opponents will four total wins so far this season. If they can win on Thursday and run the table in-conference, it would be nice for the Rockets.

And that could set up another date with Ark St. in the GMAC bowl. I know we've been looking for a #2 rival—it could be them! Have we ever played a team 4 times in 24 months? Has anyone?

stAte is probably going to win the SBC... So that will be against a 9-3 Red Wolves team.
Arkansas has the chance at some more wins, as does ISU with Kstate, and WVU to finish. Heck i could see them beating Oklahoma State and rallying for 6-6. Might just be a fine OOC schedule to get back into Access Bowl contention with some convincing wins and an AAC punching party.

RE: Access Bowl Spot
I am about 99.5% certain that Toledo's shot at an access bowl shot left the building along with the victorious NIU Huskie team after the game Tuesday night. I think anyone who believes that a one loss AAC team will be passed over in favor of a one loss Toledo team has been drinking too much midnight blue and gold Kool-Aid. Even a 1 loss Temple team was ranked higher than an undefeated Toledo in the first BCS ranking that came out before the NIU loss.

Besides, whereas as there is excellent chance for a one-loss AAC team to emerge at the end of the season (and even a small chance of Houston or Memphis slipping thru undefeated), the odds of Toledo finishing the season with one loss at this point appears to be significantly lower.

I just hope the Rockets respond to the NIU loss the way they did last year which enabled them to finish the season on a high note and not the way they finished in 2013 against Akron. By now they should have enough experience trying to bounce back from a late season NIU loss that hopefully they have figured out how to respond positively.

Yep... that ship has sailed.

I agree with T-Town and Ranger. The best case for Toledo will be to win the last three games, have things go their way so they win the MAC West, win the MAC Championship, and win the bowl game. I doubt all of those things will happen, but if they all do, it will be a nice consolation for missing a chance at a prime bowl game.

If they go 5-0, after what I saw last week and against the quality of competition coming up, I will be very impressed! I'll be honest, I'm concerned about the bounce back next week. We are going to see how much heart this team has, that is for certain. If we turn the ball over 3 times and forget how to play a prevent defense though, it will be a long uncomfortable ride. If that doesn't change against the high octane offenses we will be playing, it will become a track meet every game from here on out and I fear that we will not be able to keep up against these teams. Those are not the kind of games we will likely win. We need it to be 16-9 LOL.

We will score 30+ the rest of the way. But all of the teams we play have that capability as well. Of the 3 final teams our defense is the best still. We need to clamp down and defend like we did with Jalen in the middle!

RE: Access Bowl Spot
I will keep bumping this until we are out of it...

Boise State has losses to 2 loss BYU, and 3 loss??? Utah state. They are out of it regardless of their ranking because Toledo, Houston, Temple, Navy, Memphis, BG if they win out will have better wins, and better losses.

I would say Houston and Temple have the best odds to win out and get the spot.
Memphis and Navy would have the highest ranking if they did win out probably.

If Toledo wins out, is Navy winning out the best senario? they have two losses already.

Navy has one loss to ND, and beat Memphis already. With Houston and AACCG still coming up. They are the highest in the CFB rankings... So no. We want them to lose. Temple with 2 losses, Memphis with 2 losses, or Houston with 1 loss is ideal.

RE: Access Bowl Spot
Here's the only way I can see the Rockets getting the access spot. It'll take a perfect storm to beat out the AAC teams:
1st Toledo obviously needs to win out including the MACC and let's assume the top 4 AAC teams only lose to each other

Week 11, Memphis needs to beat Houston
Week 12, Memphis needs to beat Temple
Week 13, Navy needs to beat Houston
This will put two two loss teams in the AACC
AACC, Temple needs to beat Navy

Even if this were to happen, it will still be a debatable topic of a 1 loss Toledo vs a two loss AAC champ for the access bowl spot for the G5. Or a 1 loss Memphis that doesn't make it to the AACC. Obviously I'm biased so I say yes. I don't know if the selection committee will see it that way.

Of course even if Toledo is able to run the table from here on out, in order to get into the MACC game Toledo will need WMU to defeat NIU (I don't think Buffalo or Ohio will be up to the task).

I am afraid that this season is on track to be an instant replay of last season's MAC West race where CMU beat NIU early on and then UT beat WMU & CMU but lost to NIU (as usual) and therefore the Rockets were reduced to hoping for a WMU win over NIU in the final game of the season. WMU took an early lead on NIU but, as usual for them, self destructed and NIU came storming back strong to win the game and go to the MACC game as usual.

NIU is beginning to remind me more and more of the Thundering ("We play for Championships) Herd back in the day.

RE: Access Bowl Spot
This year could be different because destiny could be back in our hands going into the final game with WMU. I also believe that 3/4 teams could have the claim as best in the West... And in previous years we were hoping for upsets to give Toledo a chance. NIU has two of their best players hurt... We have delt with that for how many years? Toledo has rarelty been 8-1 either.

RE: Access Bowl Spot
If USF beats Temple at home, beats UC, then UCF, they will be 6-2 in the conference. With a Temple loss to Memphis, USF will go to the AAC title game. If that did happen, even just a USF win this weekend, Temple would be out of the CFB playoff top 25. The loser of Houston and Memphis will be gone as well. Navy will keep gaining until they get Houston in 3 weeks... This will be an interesting finish.

Look at what's happening. The stars may be alligning for BG or Toledo. Whoever counted us out... Rethink that.
