Good for him I did recommend him to MOB for the Rocket job but I did at that point I had assumed Candle had turned him down as he had named Heacock as interim coach.

Firing a football coach? Now? That's what Illinois has done.

Given a new contract in Nov and fired in March at a cost of near a million in order to provide "stability?" Sounds like it's the AD that needs to go, except he was just hired less than a month ago. More to the story?

This should be an interesting job search. If the AD fired their football coach without already knowing that there will be quality applicants (cough, fix is in, cough) then he should be fired AND slapped.

Constant turmoil, Couldn't have happen to a better university. Perhaps their new recruits will land somewhere else.

RE: Coaching changes
Great move by Illinois. They were going nowhere with Cubit and the pathetic deal he got at the end of the season. Who will commit to a program that won't commit to a coach who is supposedly no longer an interim?

Now it'll be interesting to see what is done with Groce and the women's basketball coach.
