She does seem extremely smart... so I'm stumped on this one.

She seems to know what she was doing. She kept notes and receipts, for example.

The statute of limitations for prostitution in Kentucky is one year. The legal age of consent is 16. I think one can reasonably assume that the prostitutes & the players/recruits are clear of any legal penalties.

Powell & McGee however could still face felony charges for promoting prostitution which carries stiffer penalties in Kentucky & doesn't have a statute of limitations. Where the under aged sex comes in is under Ky law that if you promote prostitution with someone under 17. In her book Powell states that her daughters, age 15 & 17 I believe, participated in the activities. She said yesterday, after gaining the services of a lawyer, that her daughters didn't participate in prostitution while being under aged.

If she was truly wise then she would have attained the services of a lawyer before publishing the book, sought immunity before hand & secured a greater payment than the 10% of the book sales that she has reportedly gotten. It was smart however to keep a journal & texts messages, pictures during the "dancing" would have been wise to. According to her lawyer yesterday she is now seeking help from UofL to acquire immunity in exchange for more evidence (I would assume more names of players involved & other details left out of the book).

UofL has no power to offer or extend immunity. Only state or Federal prosecutors have that authority. You also have the potential for Federal involvement with Fed jurisdiction arising due to "crossing state lines to promote prostitution" or to engage in a criminal conspiracy, not to mention wire fraud.

Plenty of shady stuff going down on the football side too. Clint Hurtt was their attempt to go balls to the wall. No top athlete from Miami wants to live in Kentucky. Enough said...

If you are around Lexington I could live but when I was in Louisville for the NCAA tournament I thought it looked like an industrial wasteland. No beauty whatsoever. Hell even the receptionist at our hotel was graduating from Louisville and couldn't wait to move to Orlando to be in a real town.

From what I have been able to discern from TV interviews they, Powell & her attorney, are hoping that UofL can use their influence to help her gain immunity in exchange for her cooperation in the investigation. Lawyers from both sides met yesterday at 3pm. I can't find much written about this but whas11 has this on their site.

Powell's attorney Larry Wilder did not reveal any information about the meeting but later a statement:
"We met off campus today and had a very meaningful discussion with the university's General Counsel. It was clear during the course of our meeting that the university is taking this matter very seriously."

Ah the old 'everybody's doing it' meme.

Oh yeah... "EVERYBODY" 03-lmfao Everybody hires hookers to bang recruits. What they really mean is UNC, Kentucky, Kansas and other teams they recruit against do various shady 01-rivals too.

That dopey mouth-breather didn't even read the article. Nothing on there remotely compares to these allegations.

I love Pitino's quote that SMU is not a Christian school because of how much our fans made fun of him

As Harry Truman said the buck stops here on my desk. Also the Louisville Board following the lead of President Eamon Kelly at Tulane should shut down the Louisville basketball program totally until the board can clean this filthy and disgusting program up. A Louisville degree now is worth nothing Also I would consider seriously butting Louisville and UNC from r major embarrassments and cheating.

The quality of education from Louisville and UNC have nothing whatsoever to do with the goings on in their basketball program.

Agreed. In fact, if your school is a power in sports with "big money" boosters, then this stuff is going on at your school too. Always has.

I like Louisville. I actually like Pitino. Most Temple folks do. When I make fun of a scandal like this, I'm really making fun of the people who purport to be "shocked and outraged" by it when they're really just jealous and titillated by it.

Now back to enjoying your moral panic. The fire storm should be fun to watch.
