You sound like the football version of StillJonesing...if we did this and they did this and if the PER showed up. Wait...the ticket takers scanned the barcodes wrong and it messed up their QB and then the water boy squirted the water from the NE versus the SE.
The teams are on the same field...GTFO
Dude we out gained Temple by 400 yards and turned it over 5 times. You're an idiot.
Congrats, we've been playing football 3 years. How long has ECU played football? Did you march to get your team? Nope, you got grandfathered in. Did you pay $2,500 a seat just to have the rights to buy your season tickets? Nope.
3 years in we have a pretty respectable team against teams that have had programs for 75+ years. By all means keep taking up for a couple outliers within your fanbase.

Grandfathered in to what?? Dude, you have no earthly idea what we've been through...more than likely because it was before you were born.
Our grandfathered in meant we left the southern conference; if I remember correctly we where the only team with the balls enough to make that choice and also meant we where without a football conference for almost 20 years...yeah it was handed to us on a silver platter. No conference meant no revenue sharing, we had find our own TV contracts and no built in schedule and no direct bowl tie ins...independent was a B!tch at times. Not complaining one bit I have been living in the purple haze for 25 years and would not trade it; our history is what makes the Pirate Nation so special...there is a reason we are in the top 2 with BYU for attendance almost every year in the group of 5./non BCS or whatever else they have called us. Welcome to the BIG BOY (kind of if you call CUSA BIG BOY) world!

I have to admit, Charlotte is better than I thought they'd be at this point in their brief history.

Yeah. If we had a qb and more depth on defense, I think we could have 4 or 5 wins this year. Some of our upcoming conference opponents don't look very good though, so it might still be possible. USM might be the best team left on our schedule. Marshall clearly won't be easy either, but they're not the team they were last year. Odu, utsa, and rice all look mediocre to bad

Sorry, but there's really no comparison between CUSA right now and any other "version" of the conference. It's progressively gotten worse for 20 years now, and it's really not an attractive conference in any way. That last year we were there was really depressing

The only ones that took the similar path that we did was West Virginia, but they did so about 9 years before us. But yeah, that was sort of my point - we took a leap of faith and were given absolutely nothing. In fact, we were destined for failure financially multiple times during that period but survived because people believed.

I thought we had come to the end of Pirate football as we knew it...it was the most depressing time period in our history besides maybe the Art Baker years but even then you felt like we could over come. Which we did a couple years later and where ranked #9 beating NCSU in the Peach Bowl. CUSA went over a cliff with the last realignment and no amount of positive thinking was going to change that.

We were in CUSA 1.0 so..... I just thought it silly one would berate the conference one just left. Maybe if you had gone P5, but not just to another G5. Best of luck the rest of the season.

For basketball, gee I wonder what the difference is. I wonder how Marquettes football team is doing.
Anyway we didn't leave the CUSA that exists now. A more accurate way of it would be UTEP, USM, Marshall, Rice and UAB got kicked out, and we added UCONN, Cincy, USF, and navy in their place.

We berated it while we were in it (speaking for everyone in the AAC). CUSA 1.0 and 2.0 were really entertaining conferences. CUSA right now is just...bad...I'm sorry there's just no other way to put it.

That's cool as everyone is entitled to their opinion. Do you guys berate the AAC as well, considering when looking at the members it's basically the same as CUSA 2.0?

I think everyone was a little boistrous at first- but we've all learned to calm down and realized the positives. This is a good, and unique, group we have here. Everyone has nice facilities, good branding, a lot of potential.
That's why I said that CUSA 1.0 and 2.0 were entertaining conferences, ECU fans in particular never had a problem with the makeup of CUSA before 2012-13 - it was essentially similar universities. The problems from our end came particularly from the TV exposure and general perception. Of course we wanted to move up, especially being in North Carolina and having been through decades of adversity, but in terms of the teams in the conference - I always enjoyed it.
Not as much as I enjoy this group now on top of being on the ESPN family every week, though. Whether or not CUSA'ers want to admit it, this conference is a step up. It's marginal, but the exposure simply makes all of the difference - and you can feel that after only 2 years.

You can't compare Cusa 1.0 and 2.0 to the collection of FCS and Sun Belt teams it is now
We were in CUSA 1.0 so..... I just thought it silly one would berate the conference one just left. Maybe if you had gone P5, but not just to another G5. Best of luck the rest of the season.
AAC schools are more focused on building their programs; it seems like every school has a major project going on or recently completed major upgrades in facilities - Houston and Tulane both have new on campus stadiums and our estimated 40 million dollar upgrade is moving along now in the rendering stage...I can't name all the projects. Coaching staffs are much better; schools spending the money. AAC schools are putting their money in these programs unlike any time in CUSA (not that there where not projects or some great coaches) It is a arms race now and until the AAC schools have P5 (or P6 status created) status their will always be some underlying currents of unhappiness and wanting more.
