No. It's an embarrassment and makes us look small time. It wasn't that long ago that we were in a power conference competing for a national championship. Those memories are fading from the national consciousness and storming the field against an average team won't help our perception.

Exactly how many teams from that conference not named Miami ever played in a national championship game in recent years

I know it may seem like ancient history, but in 2009 Cincinnati was 13-12 Big 12 Championship Game nail-biter away from being in the BCS Championship Game. Also, WVU was in line to be in the BCS Championship Game (can't remember the exact year -- 2007 maybe?) and blew it the last game of the season.

Oh stop the bus was never gonna put a big East team in the national championship game

Dude, you guys haven't beat Miami in any of our lifetimes. . . big conference or not they owned you. You HAVENT been there before. No one gives a crap the students stormed the field.

BIG MEETING ROOM: Cincy looks like a great addition but since they stormed the field vs Miami, a team they havent beaten in 60+ years, lets add Marshall.

Please, only lame fans care. Celebrate, and enjoy it

Miami isn't a rival and I doubt most of the students have any idea about our record against them. I'm happy we won, but I'm not going to jump up and down about beating an average team. It wasn't long ago that we were on the cusp of something special. I'm not going to lower my expectations and start celebrating a standard win like it's the freaking Super Bowl just because we got our big boy conference card revoked. That said, I am thrilled about how well the AAC is playing this season and I hope folks are starting to take notice.

LOL really? Cincinnati was #3 with 3 wins over ranked teams. TCU was #4. Boise State was #6. Who the hell were they going to put in the game if Texas lost? #5 Florida, who had just gotten destroyed by #1 Alabama in the SEC Championship Game? If Texas doesn't hit that field goal with time expiring, Cincinnati is in the national championship game period.

Good win Cincinnati. Way to represent! Looks like Bearcats#1 finally convinced the coaches to start running the Tulsa Tree Drill he's always gushing about. It really helps with open field tackles.

The 2009 Big East had 6 out of 8 teams finish the regular season with 7 wins or more and had 3 ranked teams. The conference was no worse than the 5th best league that year (the ACC was awful). There's absolutely no reason Cincinnati would not have made the championship game if Texas lost.

I agree we would have gotten beaten soundly by Alabama, but people like to forget how Brian Kelly left the program in a cloud of dust with half a coaching staff and a demoralized team going into the Sugar Bowl. Not saying we would have beaten Florida, but we would have given them a game under normal circumstances.

I get your point of view, but I don't think anyone cares that cincy stormed the field. Out of the 120+ college football teams there are dozens that aren't even able to storm the field, not only because they suck and can't beat any names teams, but because they're teams with lackluster fans and support. Geez, even miami can't storm they field, their stadium is always empty. Look at all the excitement and support around the cincy program, despite being 'leftout', things looks good in Cincinnati

Storming the field doesn't seperate big time vs small, consistent preformance like this does

If conferences could elevate themselves into "The Show," there wouldn't even be an American Athletic Conference. There is a better chance of P5 becoming P4. The same will happen to the AAC as always happened to C-USA: the top of the conference will elevate themselves by leaving. It is the name of the game. Don't be surprised, though, that when they bolt, they do not quite get what they bargained for, kinda like last time, arriving at a party a little too late and all of the pretty girls are gone...
