My daughter's a freshman in Shenandoah dorm by EHall, a bunch of her hall mates went body surfing down towards Urec.

Yeah, just got done reading some of the latest - I know you don't cancel football because of rain, but.....yikes. If some of these forecasts hold, there will be significant flooding in and around JMU. You can't bring ten of thousands of people onto campus under those conditions even if, by some miracle, BFS isn't under water. And Parents' Weekend, too - what a mess.

Took a look to see if our off weeks happened to be the same, no luck. They have next week off and we have Nov. 7th as a bye. I'm sure we are not the only school in this predicament, I wonder if the NCAA would consider moving the playoffs back a week and allow FCS makeup games to be played Thanksgiving weekend.

Their nov 7 game is Howard on our bye week -non conference
Wonder if something could be worked out ?

Running through my head the possibilities and really don't see any. Howard will still need to play 11 games I would guess. I don't think you have teams playing less than that in the 11 game seasons. There is flexibility in the years where we can play 12 games, schools have the option of playing in 11 or 12. Also, I'm pretty sure they don't allow a school to play 12 in the 11 game seasons either.

There are exceptions - especially due to natural disasters. In 2013, Colorado had a game cancelled...Charleston Southern happened to have a Bye during the same week as Colorado later in the season so they scheduled a last-minute game. This gave Charleston Southern 13 games for the season - which the NCAA approved.

And teams playing less than 11 games happens all the time - that's all the Ivys play every year. (And with the MEAC out of the playoffs, they can do wahtever they want.)

That Charlotte game in 2013 was really bad but no flooding. If it's nor-easter bad, they really need to strongly consider postponing the game until Sunday afternoon.
It'll inconvenience many, but not as inconvenient as flooding.

So since SB got one game cancelled already how does that work if they had 2 cancelled - they would play a 9 game season.

I hope we can figure this thing out and people still show up for the game because our boys deserve a packed house after playing a hell of a game last week!

Any chance we can find an open venue in nova or dc on such short notice that could get a lot of alums access to a game? Say at fedex or rfk? That would actually be taking a bad situation and making it awesome!!!

But wouldn't their fields also be in bad shape ... I doubt UVA would allow JMU to outshine their sorry ass team on their campus

RE: Campus flooding
The Newman Lake project had very little to do with prevention of campus flooding; it was a project to replace the dam and widen the road, as well as repair the shore around the lake. It's the river and runoff that dumps into the lake that flooded things. All the water from East Campus washes into the stream right behind BFS - it's where that outlet meets that causes the flooding as water can't drain to the lake fast enough. You can also blame Walmart and everything north of campus that runs off into the stream.

A good engineer would help that and redirect the east campus and tunnel storm water to the lake via the outlet under Godwin Field instead of between the BFS bleachers and Godwin field when the west grandstands of BFS are built in 60 years.

Roommate says their campus flooded out today as well when he was in class (IDK if the stadium did though). But we all know for the right amount of money Falwell would do just about anything. I would think this would be a more likely option though cause UVA would prob want too much money to open Scott Stadium for us.

I think I'd rather the team play literally anywhere than Liberty. Plus very few people would show up at that game.

As far as I am concerned, assuming there is zero wiggle room on the date/JMU is flooded out, call up Centreville High School and open up their stadium on a monsoon/washed out Saturday. I think it has turf and the stadium holds around 7k which would be enough given the weather.

Obviously, just letting the imagination run a little bit. I realize it would not, and should not, happen.

I was just dreaming as well. I would absolutely be floored if we moved the game to Liberty. Don't get me wrong now that I am down here less then 10 minutes from LU I'd go and would get everyone I know to go but I don't think it would sit very well overall.

Hi, this is Scott with KTLA 5 News in Los Angeles. Did you take this video? If you did, can we use it on our news? We'd be happy to give you credit. Thanks!

Posted to the Utube vid above, we're getting more cheap national exposure right now than, when? Ever? haha.

MAKE sure you watch til at least the 2:35 mark or so!!! haha

As I watched that video I was thinking this kid with the jimmy-hands taking the shots would never cut it as a professional cameraman, and here there are news channels asking to use the footage. I skipped forward some parts but the only time I saw him steady was towards the end when girls in bikinis were walking by.
