Every game is now a must win.
CMU will not win the MAC West.
They could lose to Toledo, WMU and Ball State.

So could we.

Do you see NIU going?
2-10 as of 2007
5-7
6-6
7-5
8-4
9-3
10-3 (MAC Champions)
11-3 Beat the Conf USA #2 or Sunbelt #1 or B1G #8?

This is a .500 team this year

If coaching staff cannot fix the problems stated or injury ravages this team then yes.
Still might get a Bowl game if we are lucky.

I feel the same way when NIU does, even though they are part of the MAC.

I didn't watch the game, just checked out the box score. I might turn on the Toledo game later this season. As long as it isn't on ESPN3.

Just because B and B don't put their stamp of approval on the MAC, doesn't mean that you can't watch it. They like very few things anyway.

Agree.
If you feel that NIU should not play in the MAC then form a committee and donate several Million $ in a FB coaches fund to pay Market Value to FB Coaches at that level. Otherwise go do a graduate degree at a B1G school. Preferably Ohio State or MSU if you want to see your team in a play-off bowl.

What Bed and Breakfast are you referring to?

What Bed and Breakfast are you referring to?

Maybe MD means a Bed and Breakfast that provides service at the top 30th percentile in the nation at a price in the bottom 5 percentile in the Nation.

Please let me know, when you find such a place that has consistently been ranked for 5 years in the top 30th percentile and pays its managers in the bottom 5 percentile because it is such an honor to work there. NIU clients get very upset when managers move to Bed and Breakfast clubs that pay market value compensation to its managers.

Maybe it's called the," NIU pickiest fans Bed and Breakfast club".
Some of us NIU fans are hoping that it closes down very soon and its members move over to the, " B1G bottom feeders fans Bed and Breakfast club".
NIU FB Fans cannot afford such an elitist and out of touch fan segment. They simply make everybody depressed.

These may not be direct-opposition statements, but they aren't really that compatible...

Quote:It is generally an embarrassment for a team when they lose to a MAC school.

But NIU *is* a MAC school. They're Defined as being a MAC school. They're not an 8-4 B12 team where one says "It's an embarrassment for a team when they lose to a MAC school." But even then it's an over-the-top statement. A team? ANY team? Kansas losing to BGSU by 1 would be an Embarrassment? Or would it be BGSU not being completely satisfied only winning by 1? UTEP losing to a MAC school is embarrassing? What? :)

You can't love NIU *football* if being in the MAC is an embarrassment and not worth watching.

What you're saying is like Michigan State or Ohio State saying "It's generally an embarrassment for a team when they lose to a B1G school (flips hair). I just check the box scores. I'll maybe catch the game against Michigan on TV, tho."

RE: Have Fun in MAC Play.
I agree Todd. an NIU fan who hates the MAC needs to either pony up the money to get NIU into a P5 conference or stop supporting NIU FB. WE do not need or want such unrealistic fans.
We want realistic fans who realize and recognize Market Value relative to performance.
NIU is part of the MAC. When NIU left the MAC the FB program went to the bottom of the FSB.
We know what it is like as NIU fans to not win a game for two years and be ranked at the bottom and the joke of FSB.
Our coaches pay is still a joke in the FSB and ranks close to the bottom.
Fans who refuse to recognize that, but insist that NIU who pays Coach Carey $400 000 a year defeat teams that pay coaches $1.3M to $8 Million a year
and get embarrassed when NIU losses to teams who's coaches are paid 150%-250% in the MAC need to get a reality check or simply stop routing for NIU FB.
If they love NIU so much and have not the money to support such champagne and caviar dreams then maybe they should accept a job at NIU for 30% of market price
and get upset if their supervisors do not demand the highest standard in the nation. If another college offers them a 300% raise they on principle must turn it down
and continue to take abuse from an ungrateful supervisor(fan base).

Going with the chick analogy (girls don't use this site, right?)....

A guy's GF is a JC Pennys model in the pants section. He says "I love my GF... but I don't want to waste my time with looking at JC Pennys models, they're just Blah. I want some hotties to look at."

Interesting, but perhaps that does work, simply because NIU isn't exactly first on many peoples lists for schools to go to. Lots of schools, people grow up wanting to go to, like Harvard, or Florida, even some Big 10 schools like Michigan or Wisconsin. NIU is more or less a settle school. "I was an alright student, not great grades, but not bad either. Eh, I'll just go to NIU, it's in state and I know they'll accept me"

No?

You're either the student that fits the above situation. Or you failed out. Either way you're kind of a troll dude. Sign off and never come back.

No. :) Because this is college football, not how great academically the place is. That'd fit if it was following the IVY League football conference. Big Man isn't following that, his sentiments are pretty much the same. Much the same as someone who's an NFL-only follower... they may watch the BCS bowls & 4-team playoff, but Blah -- the rest of it? What a bunch of amateurs.

I think the "not popular school" thing in FBS is the key. Nothing to do with academics, although a bigger conference will want higher academic standards to join -- but that's not what the big-name-team fans are carrying on about. They just want to see big-name teams. Big crowds, national attention, etc. If it doesn't have that, "Pshaw". It's not cool to follow mid-majors in conference play, don't ya know?! 03-wink
