Article From Bowling Green,OH Newspaper on Game Today
"What was more burning to Bowling Green was it put itself in a position to take a lead late in the game.
The Falcons forced a Memphis punt with 3:06 to play and the Tigers holding on to their 44-41 lead.
But Bowling Green squandered the opportunity.
Johnson threw a pass down the right side on the opening play of the drive and the Tigers were called for pass interference, putting the Falcons at their own 41. It was the four plays to follow that ended it.
Johnson was sacked for a 6-yard loss, then threw a pass to Travis Greene for a 5-yard loss. After a 7-yard completion, Johnson’s fourth-and-18 pass to Lewis fell incomplete and the Tigers ran the clock out after the change of possession.
“It’s frustrating,” Johnson said. “We had the ball at the end. We get a (pass interference) right at the first play and you think you’re going to start moving. Sack, negative play, it gets hard to move the ball when you’re moving backwards.
“To come out with four plays in a row of not getting the job done, it’s frustrating.”

It's nice to be on the winning side these last few years. We have had decades of being on the losing side.

Of course, we also had wins over Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Miss State, Mizzou, Ole Miss, Georgia Tech, South Carolina, Tennessee, USC and Virginia Tech among others, but the near-impossibility of exposure and bowl invitations for an up-and-coming independent prevented sustained success.
Fortunately, we now have the advantages of belonging to a credible (though under-paid) conference which gives us exposure and bowl opportunities. More important, our administration and supporters finally understand that football must never be neglected in favor of basketball.
