That was just a comment written facetiously as part of the hype for Ohio State, in the same context that someone with Cutler's experience (even if fans hate him) wouldn't land him on the depth chart of a college team.
Korcek takes the time to talk to the two coaches in Huskie history who can address facing a No. 1-ranked foe based on their knowledge and the only thing you take out of it is that Korcek thinks OSU could beat a pro team? AAHHHH! it's hard to take how short-sided some people are!!
Every once in awhile some of you come up with questions like "when was the last time" "among teams NIU has faced, which is...", etc. This column includes historical and factual information that seldom gets written about and you don't even see the chance to learn something. Which Huskie football coach has faced the most Top 25 opponents? Novak, 13 of them; take that into account and Joe's record starts looking more impressive. For those who don't believe Pettibone was that good of coach, put his 9-2 squad that got screwed by the bowl committees in the context of having been an independent program that was once 2-9 during a year with just four home games while playing on the road at West Virginia, Wisconsin, No. 21 Iowa and No. 1 Miami (FL).
Granted, none of those were home games, but think about the quality of those opponents and how often has NIU had that kind of power schedule? Since so many of you now disqualify Northwestern, Iowa, and Purdue, then none of the recent schedules measure up. Next best is probably Novak's season with Maryland, Alabama and Iowa State (which was at least a home game).
