I don't think a year made that much difference...
other than Tech losing a great DC and 4 or 5 of those very quick play makers on defense. I think we saw last night (and it goes for all of us) there's a reason certain guys starts and if their backups were just as good...
well it shows "they're not"
Not just Tech but Western, Marshall, FIU, and go down the line of just about every school other than most of the bluebloods.
Like I said in many many topics and got called out as a homer by a lot of Marshall and Tech fans ....
I look for 10 to 15% improvement out of defense in getting off the field on 3rd down. Now tell me which is the more realistic goal?
1. 10-15% improvement on getting off the field when returning 8 + 2 starter from UAB
2. replacing a great DC and 4 or 5 KEY defenders and expecting a defense to be just as good
One more factor that Tech fans played down...
the death of a former teammate just a day or so before last years game. Maybe not the deciding factor in Tech whooping Western last year. But it played a role in just how bad Western played.
2014 is not 2015 and 2016 wont be 2015 for Western...
mostly different players and that was where a LOT, not all but a lot, of Tech fans hung their hat on. I personally hope both programs has turned a corner and can restock each and every year. But like I said...
only a few elite schools do that
