UCF lost a ton of starters from last year. I'm hoping by playing them in week 1, FIU has the biggest advantage as possible from their lack of experience. I really think FIU needs a fast start to win this one. Gotta keep the Knights on their young heels and make them uncomfortable.

What? LOL. I asked if you guys were going to be taking a respectable group up there, not to make fun of you. Geez, some of you FIU fans can be so thin-skinned. Miami attendance is so much better now (last game of 2014 against Pitt had 50,000+ in the stands) than it was in 2012 (lol that one pic of the BC-U game still gives me nightmares); it's not like we average 10,000 fans a game. We share in the struggle though, S Florida is notoriously sucky for sports.

Are you on drugs? We can hardly get anyone to go in Miami.

I originally said "any" fans but changed it to "many" to avoid being too mean. At least you recognize the fact that there aren't a whole lot of fans lol.

We recognize and can make fun of our situation. What pisses us off is the unnecessary bashing we get every few months for no reason. Seems to be primarily a Marshall thing to tell the truth. I think, for the most part, our small fan base keeps to ourselves and we have been fair and decent to CUSA and its fans. But recently we have gone after those that go after us..... some Marshall fans. Of course, FAU is our rival and we reserve the right to sucker punch them at any time!!!02-13-banana

You definitely have your committed fans, and your 'average Joe' fans do exist though I think a majority never go to any games just because of how "meh" the teams have been lately. I see many folks out in the city wearing FIU stuff but I imagine most of them never have attended a game. I guess that is a common trait of S Florida sports fans. I have to admit, I shamefully fall into this category. FIU games almost always conflict with UM games and the few FIU games I've actually wanted to attend, I haven't been able to because of work or class.

I don't understand Marshall's obsession with FIU attendance but I definitely get the FAU-FIU rivalry. That kind of thing strikes somewhat of a chord with UF or FSU making fun of UM attendance even when their stadiums have looked just as sparse in recent years against similar teams. Of course, highlighter-colored seats (thank God they are gone this year) don't help.

Give me a break, everyone knows what you are trying to do, you're not clever nor funny and now the whole, "who? ME?" routine. Please. Since you like attendance so much, here you go, your fellow fans recognize what's going on in candyland....

Keep telling yourself that. I, for one, don't think there's anything "funny" about wanting to build fan bases and struggling with attendance. What's "funny" is how worked up you are. I guess I can now easily identify which FIU fan is the "that fan" that many schools must always have...

Ole Blue was definitely just curious about what the away crowd might look like at UCF. If he was trying to be a jerk he could have worded the question like he said he could've but didn't want to sound like a jerk.

I don't need to tell myself anything. It is what it is and you don't like being called out. I'm sure your comment was just just the push we needed on the road for us to build a fan base, if it wasn't for your comment we would never know that we need help and that our attendance was lacking, thanks for opening our eyes. As far as being worked up, meh, not so much. I'm laughing that you think anyone educated outside the state of West Virginia, wouldn't realize what you were trying to do.

Let's not be overly sensitive. A little good natured ribbing never killed anyone.

Good luck tonight!

RE: FIU @ UCF *Official GameDay Thread* 6 PM EST CBSSN
It was a question about whether or not you guys had any big groups of organized fans going. I asked the question because yesterday, some Charlotte fans remarked that they were bringing four buses of fans to the GA State game. I know FIU and UCF always have good crowds so I thought, hey chances are you might have something going on. No need to get all defensive and worked up. My question has nothing to do with some attempt to point out that your attendance hasn't been great lately (as you said, Miami hasn't had the best crowds either, so honestly do you think I'm gonna go around laughing at other schools? No.). I am just shaking my head. I asked an honest question -- I do not follow FIU sports that much so I don't know all the personal details of your fan base -- and I get jumped on and accused of trying to incite riots among FIU fans. Jeez. In any case I hope you win and I also hope you have better crowds so you stop getting so dang agitated anytime anyone mentions the words "FIU" and "fans" in the same sentence.

Check out post#22, you are the one that brought Miami into this thread.
Former Sun Belt teams fans should avoid all attendance threads, we're all part of the problem.

Actually it appeared that Ol Blue was trying to turn the corner (though he should know that attendance is a sore subject).

Anyways, Thursday Night really hurt my prospects for attending this game. But I can't wait to get out of work and turn on the game.

Anyways, Thursday Night really hurt my prospects for attending this game. But I can't wait to get out of work and turn on the game.

Sore subject, it is, but a fact of life for all of us especially former SBC schools and those in South Florida. Yea, I figure Thursday will make things difficult. I can't tell you how many games I've wanted to attend both at Miami and MT (and other schools) where a weekday game has been made impossible by other requirements. From UCF perspective tho I can see how it would make sense since this is Labor Day weekend and they have a large commuter population.

What does Miami have to do with FIU and UCF? Nothing. And for what it's worth I love those pictures, I think they are hilarious. Anyway, I hope FIU wins. I hope you don't interpret that as a dark magic curse that will cause FIU players to all be injured or something. Who knows what this evil Canes fan has up his sleeve.

Check out post#22, you are the one that brought Miami into this thread.
Former Sun Belt teams fans should avoid all attendance threads, we're all part of the problem.

Actually it was post#11 but yeah, you're right about old SBC complaining about attendance. Though my comment literally had nothing to do with attendance, just curiosity about whether a big group was headed up that way. I thought you guys (FIU and UCF) played a few years back and I don't know how that game ended up. I am not psychic when it comes to football. And after all, it is just football. No reason to get so agitated tho I do understand emotions can be heightened especially if you are financially supporting a program, my own emotions included sometimes in heated discussions with other fans.
