1942 UC Football Schedule

I saw this about a week ago . This is a perfect place for it. Great thread.

Wow! 8 home games and just two away games. That was a great regional schedule and games against Georgia and Tennessee!

Not sure when this was taken but I am guessing it is the 1940s. Very funny Homecoming Parade float

Top notch guys! Thanks Aero and other participants 04-bow

I shouldn't be negative/critical in a thread like this, but, it just makes it all the more frustrating that we used to get schools like Georgia to come to Nippert, and UC did not do much to grow from that point. But, I realize the constraints with UC in that era, and they've been discussed quite a bit. Still frustrating...

BJ, UC couldn't grow since they were owned by the City of Cincinnati at the time and the City was losing money like crazy operating UC.

UC has a digital archive with yearbooks and student newspaper from way back in the day. Checkout the old UC logos and uniforms from the 1950's and 1960's, classic looks that I wish were used today as throwbacks.

I know. That's what I was referring to there. I remember you mentioning that before.

This thread got me reminiscing about my first game at Nippert when I was a frosh in 1986. I know this is recent history compared to the other posts, but (gulp), hard to believe it was almost 30 years ago when the #1 Hurricanes and Vinnie T. came to town. I remember those gosh awful "UC" letters on the side of the helmets.

Anyone notice the soccer lines on the Nippert field in that video?

I still think that was the most crowded congested games at Nippert. You could not move at the game, people everywhere.

Yep. Of course, capacity was only 26k at that time, but it was overflowing.

Obviously overmatched, but watching some of that reminded me how often we would shoot ourselves in the foot in those days.

We started the 1986 season in great fashion on the road giving Virginia Tech who won the Peach Bowl that year one of only two losses for them. Then we beat Miami Ohio but then our season pretty much fell apart.

We also lost to eventual national champion Penn State due to a late fumble. Reggie Taylor and Danny McCoin could get it going. Alex Gordon must have had a 10 year career with the Jets.
