RE: Pledge Counter
I believe when this campaign takes off we will surpass the Convo fund raising in pledges. If we were to announce we are going to move conferences and compete at the FBS level our leadership could include the initial cost of the convo into the overall transition cost to move conferences, pay our exit fee, raise scholarship money, raise coaches salaries, and break ground on convo all into one set public goal.

I'm as hopeful for this grassroots effort as the next guy but are there that many of you out there that think we'll surpass $3M like it's nothing? I mean that's no drop in that hat for a group with limited resources and time.

I'm not surprised that the convo fundraising is coming along slowly. Raising money for basketball is a lot harder than football. The facility is needed but in any case, we're in a one bid league in a rural area where most of our alums can't get to Harrisonburg on a week night to even enjoy it.

You are correct. We have to count on the students to turn out in order to get any close to a full Convo and right now they are not showing up. Having the students doesn't pull in immediate revenue, but if we can get 4K interested while they are in school they will be the ones to support the program once they graduate. Face it, we all know the students who cared not for any of our athletics while a student, and they sure as heck don't give a crap once gone.

Lou had built the program and Lefty maintained it well, but 20 years of little to no excitement around the program takes a long time to recover. I believe we could win 25 games, make a good showing in the NCAA's, and the following season we'd still struggle to get paying fans to come out to the games. We don't have the same luxury VCU has with an overwhelming majority of the support coming out for a game living 30 - 45 minutes of their arena.

I think this is a good indication that we can raise millions in the pledge drive with the website based on the limited sampling using the message board stats. Granted, we are a very passionate group about football but we raised over $500,000 with a small group.

HH&C...any more updates?

RE: Pledge Counter
bump this back up - everyone from this thread needs to create and account and remake their pledge to the new website for official tracking.
