Big Blue is getting ready to hit us up for COA and stadium financing, but best of luck on your effort.

It's great to see the passion you all have for your program. That's why even many of your longtime rivals are rooting for you. A tip of the hat to HH&C and to the rest of you.

I'll go with $100 X 5 = $500

I wish I had a stronger income (yay teaching!)...but hopefully this will encourage others who can't give much.

For those that say the admin reads these boards, they better be reading this one. These posts aren't spouting crazy numbers either... these are REAL fans that want to give this money to JMU... and absolutely would if we made the move.
Over a quarter of a million and counting in less than two days from a relatively small number of fans. Keep moving that needle and putting the pressure on.

If money could buy an invite from the MAC or CUSA this would probably be worthy of celebration.

You don't think enough money could cause our administrators to reconsider a move to SBC? Forget the SBC's current situation where it appears they have moved on. I think enough money pledged now can have that effect with the backing & support of our friend HH&C.

Everything I've read from sourced DNR articles to insiders on this board over the past few years is you have administrators at JMU who don't think the Sun Belt is a fit.

“Consistent with these values and principles and the ongoing issue of conference alignment, JMU will not pursue or accept an invitation from a conference that does not meet our criteria,” James Madison president Jonthan Alger said in a statement released on the school’s athletics website this week. “If we do receive an offer consistent with our established values, we are prepared to review it and make a recommendation to the Board of Visitors. This process is ongoing and will require continued support on the part of the university, students, faculty, staff, coaches, alumni, and fans.”

This was pretty much a big steaming dump on the Sun Belt.

While you need money to make the jump, I don't see how 5 million is going to change beliefs that the Sun Belt is not consistent with JMU's "established values". Maybe if you had T. Boone Pickens money involved it would defer all travel costs and lessen some concerns about the leap. But if administrators believe the Sun Belt is not where JMU should be, I'm not sure why money would change things. In fact I would hope it wouldn't. A few million isn't going to change the fundamentals of the situation, that the Sun Belt isn't a fit for JMU.

For those that think the Sun Belt is the best fit for JMU, continuing to make that argument about why its a good fit and convincing those in charge of this is the impossible task at hand I imagine. Why would money change minds? 5 million would be a remarkable effort and I can appreciate attempting to "control your own destiny", I just don't think money is the decider here.

That being said keep up the good work here! This board would be more interesting and JMU football more interesting to follow at the FBS level so count me in for $20/year x 5 years. I just don't think money is what is needed here.

Money drives the entire equation. If a pledge drive raises $5-10M, everyone takes notice that we have a base that will not only support FBS but other projects at the university. The money may not change the minds on the SunBelt but it may very well require another hard look at whether the SunBelt meets our criteria now that App. State and Ga. Southern have joined. Both are comparable to JMU academically and athletically. We shall see. Doing nothing and letting this percolate did not seem like the right play to me. We may fail (I don't think we will) but we don't even get a chance to fail of we don't try something new.

So... if we made the announcement...

Not sure if you are capturing this addition, but I would renew the 4 season tickets I gave up a couple seasons ago at the Priority level and C4 parking.

On top of that, for this FBS drive, I would pledge 250/yr for $1,250.

It doesn't matter whether the Sun Belt is a perfect fit or not. All that matters is it would at least be a step forward towards reaching a "perfect fit". Hell, it would be a leap forward.

I'd be interested to know if an SBC with App/GSU/Coastal has the power to change that tone. This thing is constantly changing. An old statement does nothing for me right now as the situation has changed in multiple ways.

And I agree with HH&C. This pledge drive shows how we can become a more dynamic school in mother areas, not just athletics. Hopefully that message is delivered well. We'll see how much we can raise. Thanks for the hundred bucks. ?
