What if the G5 broke away from the P5 and played Winter/Spring football?
Start the season in February and end it the 1st week in June with the guarantee of significantly more money being made per school (something like 5 mil per school). Would you be in favor of your school participating in this setup?

No. Means we can't play Virginia Tech, NC State, Wake Forrest, or UNC at home. I'd rather play those games.

sounds like the WNBA, I am thrilled with the notion of February games in WV or KY, how about we just let the P5 breakaway and enjoy our brand of football?

Yeah the P5 would even be more of afterthought than they are now. Ratings would be terrible ( going up against March Madness and the tournament) and TV money would dry up for P5.

Football in February and March is unnatural.
Also, The MAC, much of the MWC, northern AAC schools, and Marshall would have a difficult time getting through the snow and ice

RE: What if the G5 broke away from the P5 and played Winter/Spring football?
Its a desperate option that I hate for the G5. That said, I'd love having football season lasting an extra 6 months. The issues are going to be---
1) Weather.
2) Lack of students on campus in late May through June.
3) The timing will affect the pro draft that falls in April as well as early NFL mini camps.
4) Ends all games with the P5.
5) Will conflict with basketball, the NCAA tournament, baseball, and baseball playoff.
My sense is that a spring season would probably would make the G5 more profitable. If the P5 ever choose to split from the G5 and create a D4, the value of the G5 would plummet. However, I could see the G5 actually being more valuable playing in spring after a split than they were playing in the fall before the split.

Good Lord. Why do these threads keep coming up?
I guess its a summer thing now that realignment/consolidation has slowed.

I'm not getting this comment. Is it sarcasm?

This may be the worst idea ever to appear on this board. And that is really saying something.

Whenever a Hill Topper and a Raider agree on anything then:
Either the apocalypse is about to occur or the Hill Topper is right! Spring Football? BAD IDEA. VERY BAD!

That may be the dumbest post ever. Did you ever hear of the USFL or the World Football league, or the XFL . How did they do????
First off all G5 conferences have signed a 12 year college playoff agreement
to be part of Fall Football, With a payday of up to 12 million for each conference.
And then you are going to throw away a chance for a new years day bowl.
And if the playoffs ever go to 8 teams it will include P5 champs , The best G5 Champ and
2 at large.
Yeah this makes sense:
This Board does not need caller ID it needs poster IQ

I'm not understanding why some of you are getting upset over a question. I didn't say it should happen, I ask would you be opposed to it. Don't let the internet make you a jackazz. It is amazing how much some of you read into a question.
Furthermore, the USFL or XFL didn't fail because it was played during the Spring. Read your history before calling something stupid. And I didn't give a time frame for something like this to happen which makes your comment about the 12 year college football playoff agreement a non factor.
Hey I get, some of you don't like change.. But there is a reality that many of you are not facing, the P5 isn't going to continue to give us handouts in the future. At some point, we are going to have to find a way to generate more money if we're going to survive period. So far no one has no ideas on how to make that happen.
I thought maybe we could have a reasonable conversation about the subject instead of some of you jumping off a bridge chasing a $5 bill.
