Sorry but spending less money then earning even less money than you saved isn't saving money. If the FCS is such a good deal why are more schools moving up than ever before, with no one moving down?
Idaho is a state flagship university. it probably bugs alumni and supporters that boise state is doing so well.
That is part of it along with 73 years at the highest level.
Idaho has had periods with split schedules half major college half lower just to hang on.
Boise has made things worse with their success for more than the obvious reasons.
They have three hundred million in athletic facility debt.
They pour money into athletics at the expense of academics.
Their one of the ten lowest rated schools in FBS.
But it is working because they are growing and they keep winning.
Idaho would be a stretch academically to get into the PAC but Boise gets mentioned more often.
Idaho is ahead of only WVU as far as P5 schools but Boise gets mentioned for the Big 12. Not that Idaho should be a Big 12 candidate either.
OSU and WSU both were championed by the bigger state school .
Idaho and Montana didn't have that going for them in the PCC days.
