Exclamation New Offensive Coordinator?
FootballScoop Staff ‏@FootballScoop
Bill Clark intends to hire former Mississippi State & Texas A&M OC Les Koenning as his OC at UAB, per sources

http://t.co/sNnVtycOD5

UAB: Per source, Bill Clark intends to hire Les Koenning as his offensive coordinator at UAB. Koenning coached the receivers at Texas this past season and served as the offensive coordinator at Mississippi State and Texas A&M for approximately ten years prior to that.

It would be an interesting choice.

At first look I like this hire. He was Franchones OC at TCU, UA and Texas A&M. He was Mullins OC at Miss St as well.

I think the players will begin to fill into the roster fairly quickly. Now that the date for return is set, I expect things will move fast.

Looks like a good hire. I don't know much about him but he would seem to be connected with Clark when they were both at South Alabama.

RE: New Offensive Coordinator?
I see us getting a good bit of injured players/non-qualifiers coming in this year. Gives them time to heal and get their academics in order. Maybe a split of JUCO, 1-yr sit out transfers and HS next year. Give them a year to go through strength and conditioning program (hopefully from a recent strength and conditioning coach returning next year . . .)

Is that what everyone else is expecting? Are we targeting specific demographics or just trying to get bodies in the door? I would hate to just get bodies in to get to 85 because that would hurt us long term, I think.

FWIW Coach said he is only interested in guys that "fit with what we're trying to do."

From what I understand we are not just taking just any warm body for numbers. As Belief said they will have to fit what we are trying to do and fit the University and mold of a Bill Clark player.
