This is why I think we may hear something soon. If an invite is extended in Spring 2016, there's little time to get schedules ready for the 2016-17 season.

Two very important things happened at the spring meetings: leaders agreed we WILL expand (or, replace depending on how you choose to look at it), and they also agreed HOW we would expand. Which is why discussions of any schools other than Eastern or Coastal are a complete waste of time.

They also empaneled a committee to go through the process which as culminated in the visits to both schools. I think there will be an offer to one of these schools. I think a decision from that committee will come soon. Don't know when it will be announced, and it's really impossible to get Olympic sports in by 2016.

I still think we are looking at a November announcement that the chosen school will join the Sun Belt 2016-17 academic year.

I'm confused by the two statements in bold. They seem contradictory, could you please explain.

Sure. I don't think spring 2016 sports can can come over that soon. It think the earliest spring sports come over is January 2017, or 2016-17 academic year.

I see what you're saying now. Thanks.

So no 12-14 model setup?

My guess is that we will revisit when Idaho and NMSU football only status is reevaluated which means next spring/summer. I think one of the two final candidates will be invited this year to get us back even as 12/12. 12/14 only happens if we keep NMSU and drop Idaho. I think the league hasn't formerly discussed the future of our football only members at this time.

Do y'all think they are done with visits or do you think they may still have a visit or two on the agenda?

Haha - funny but I was referring to other schools. Do you think they are done by visiting EKU and Coastal or do you think there may be one or more other schools in the mix?

Short of Missouri State coming in 12th hour (or JMU having a change of mind and asking for a visit to pitch themselves)... I'd say yes.

I know that stAte is particularly enamored with Missouri State, and from what I am gathering, others in the Sun Belt are as well. But they aren't ready, and don't seem to be in a big rush to get ready.

JMU? Well, they've been well documented. But they've rebuffed this conference a few times, and don't appear to be changing their minds.

If I was to put an order of preference (from the presidents point of view), I'd say:

1. JMU
2. Missouri State
3a. EKU
3b. CCU

(now the visits may have swapped EKU/CCU and I don't mean to make it sound like anything other than a tie in third place)

CCU will accept an offer from the Sun Belt Conference if it comes

When CCU showed up on the stage I knew they would soon be a force in the FCS. They're simply located in an area with too much talent to fail. Location location location. Welcome the Sun Belt CCU.04-cheers

The article had a ton of info. If offered we'd accept. They'll do the stadium expansion in one phase. There is another school in the consideration by the SBC.

From article. Who is the other.

Quote:DeCenzo said Benson and his Sun Belt team had already visited Eastern Kentucky before they spent Tuesday and Wednesday at Coastal Carolina, and it was his understanding the conference plans to visit one more unidentified school next week. From there, he is hopeful the Sun Belt will let the university know soon if it will indeed be making an offer.

Did anyone else read where article says there's one more "unidentified school" SBC officials are going to visit?

Any thoughts on who this could be?

Personally, I hope it's Mo. St. But I really have no idea who the mystery school is . . .

Now that's strange that king Karl goes mum about expansion for months then suddenly blurts two institution names and now we're finding out there's apparently a third at play

Wonder why the Sun Belt has named 2 schools but not the third. I get the feeling we aren't gonna invite just one school.

This is my guess. EKU and CCU both get added to the East. The third is a team for the West. I'm betting it's Missouri State.
