RE: Current Teams Only All SBC QB
There was 1 post from a Louisiana fan. It was composed of various positions. I recognize the name but I don't remember every player and their position from the beginning of time.
I am having serious eye function issues right now. I didn't leave anyone out on purpose.
Just be a little more clear. I'll try not to make the same mistake again

Aplin - 50g, 67 TDs, (36 pass, 31 rush) 10,753 offensive yds (8997 pass) - 215.06 ypg
Baylor -
Brister -
Browning - 51g, 81 TDs, (63 pass, 14 rush) 11,768 offensive yds (10,263 pass) - 230.75 ypg
Edwards - 51g, 139 TDs (74 pass, 64 rush) 14,753 offensive yds (10,392 pass) - 289.27 ypg
George - 44g, 79 TDs (76 pass, 3 rush) 9786 offensive yds (9556 pass) - 222.4 ypg
Ham -
Humphries
Nealy - 39g, 70 TDs (52 pass, 18 rush) 8933 offensive yds (7206 pass) - 229.05 ypg
Robinson - 48g, 81 TDs (78 pass, 2 rush) 13,141 offensive yds (13,477 pass) - 273.77 ypg
If anyone can get me stats for the other guys I'll plug them into the list.
Voting will end midnight Friday, July 24.
As great as Edwards was he played mainly IAA teams (so did Humphries, Hamm, Brister, and probably some others on your list I don't recognize). In the modern era of FBS play vs tougher competition (more P5 teams) you have Aplin, Browning and Robinson. Then you have to look at wins and losses. Robinson was the most prolific passer but his teams did poorly (not his fault...porous defenses), Browning had a marquis win over Arkansas and one bowl game and Aplin had the best record with two bowls and 20 wins his last two years. It's hard to say who was the best..
I'll counter then that guys like Aplin and Browning played in an offense where their numbers are inflated. guys Humphries and Brister played and started in the NFL for many seasons after their departure, where as the "system" guys, to coin a phrase from Texas Tech, didn't play a down.
In the end, I look at wins. That's where guys like Brister, Humphries, Edwards, Aplin and yes, even Baylor, make their mark.
Also consider that guys in the '60's played ten games with limited postseason opportunity. Guys in the 70's and 80's played 11 games with small postseason opportunity. Guys in the 90's played 11 games with greater postseason access and guys in '00's til now played 12 games with a dearth of postseason games. I'd put Arkansas State's James Hamilton (1968-71) up against Aplin any day. Guy won, period. He just did it in a balanced, grind it out offense with fewer games. Gee, which one is going to have the better numbers?

RE: Current Teams Only All SBC QB
I agree with the previous stated comments about AE, it wouldn't have mattered if App went to FBS in 2005. The guy just out played or stepped up every game regardless of the competition, our 2008/09 years the team was depleted by graduation. Yet with AE at the helm App still won the conference and made two deep playoff runs.

RE: Current Teams Only All SBC QB
Will get the Backs polls up soon. Hoping we are all getting a little something out of this one. ie: learning a little something something about the other teams and who their better players were. I also hope we're seeing the stats and making our choices off of what's listed. A little homerism is fine but I, for one, am not making homerish picks. (or maybe we just don't have anyone worthy...nah!)

And with a IAA OL, WR corpse etc.
He was the best player on any field he stepped on in college, IAA and IA alike. Do I need to post the Michigan game highlight?
You don't need to convince me. I still have nightmares thinking of Armanti Edwards. That was one tough and talented young man.

Edwards and Ham both had "it." You knew it every time they stepped on the field, that their team was never out of the game regardless of who the opposition or situation was, and they would pull something out of their ass to win.
What Ham did in 1985 and Edwards did in 2006 were both unbelievable achievements, and are the reason Ham is in the CFHOF and Edwards will be one day.... two of the top 1-AA players ever without question.

Just imagine a game between Ham and Edwards.

Maybe one day jointly with Marcus Cox. I swear it's something about that number. Sean Price was also unstoppable with it on, but an idiot with it off

To answer your question, though, I don't know if anyone knows. He is going into our athletic HOF with Coach Moore in a few weeks. Perhaps when Cox graduates we will have seen the last of #14.

Armanti Edwards was good, ain't no two ways about it, but he and no one else is in Tracy Ham's league. That's just pretending to think otherwise.

Just noticed Jake Delhomme wasn't nominated. Do UL fans not like him or something?

Cajun fans absolutely love Jake Delhomme....it doesn't take a genius to realize that he is the best Quarterback to come out of a "Sun Belt" school.
He and Brian Mitchell are easily #1 and #2 - hell they both played in Super Bowls. Of course Mitchell never played much QB in the NFL.
I guess you didn't realize that this poll is for 3rd best

Anything Jake ever accomplished was negated by those 6 interceptions against the Cardinals in the playoffs.

Tracy Ham's yards were phenominal. But his 41 INTs and 51% completion percentage preclude him from the #1 spot.
