That's exactly what I meant. UAB was 6-6 last year, but to be fair it's never been .500 football program. The three years before last season you went 2-10, 3-9, 3-9. IMO, that makes you a 3-9 football program.

It just seems silly to make comments that would set up your return to football with a 3-9 as some sort of "failure" when it should realistically be celebrated.

No, that's definitely fair. No feathers are going to be ruffled by admitting that the team wasn't exactly the model of success. The reality is that the program atrophied to that extent, and, as a relatively young university, we didn't have the history, clot, personnel, or even institutional support that other schools enjoy.

No one wants to lose, but the record over the next few seasons isn't nearly as important as securing those facilities and providing some real stability.

In my opinion, UAB has had exactly the types of records its infrastructure could support. There was a reason the US Navy put 16" guns on battleships, not destroyers. If you want to carry heavy ordinance, you must provide the proper vehicle to support it. An infrastructure (facilities) that were inferior to most high schools, let alone the university teams we had to compete with, was / is never going to give UAB the seasons' records it desires. We must provide FBHC Clark with the facilities he has listed as necessary for success and the year to start is 2016.

Speaking of pumping the brakes, there's a dude on the CUSA board calling the conference for USM right now.
