Tailgating ??
I had heard back in January they were talking about blocking/closing Calhoun street for a block party. Go from bar to bar and walk outside with open container . Is that still the plan?

RE: Tailgating ??
I heard that got shot down. Something about not blocking traffic to some hospitals.

RE: Tailgating ??
Getting around campus is hard enough (esp. game day.) Closing Calhoun is a horrible idea.

RE: Tailgating ??
Tailgating in Clifton has to improve, closing Calhoun would have given people more options. Similar to the "Bearcats on the banks" used last year, people would have turned out.

Remember...the whole turf area beyond the left field wall of the baseball stadium will be inside the gates next year. I am sure that the University will have some type of events happening there.

RE: Tailgating ??
I would have LOVED tailgaiting up on Calhoun before games. Wouldn't have to bring anything. Grab a bite to eat at one place, a drink to go at another, wonder among the peoples.

Nice touch, not tailgating though same for Grid. If Texas was playing at Nippert the whole dam city would shut down for them but not for Bearcats.

As an employee of 1 of the hospitals in Clifton I agree with them not closing any main thoroughfare in the area. Close off Short Vine if you want to shut down a road.

That was the plan once Calhoun was no longer an option. Dunno if it still is. Also Bohn mentioned tailgating at Kroger

A friend in my season ticket group made some calls about tailgating this year and what he was told was that short vine would be the area that would be closed down for tailgating events.

The Grid. That should be everyone's focus for tailgating. We've been there since the start. Setup and tear down is not all that difficult.

I just don't understand why everyone continues to look for other options when the best option is right on campus....

Do you know where I can find more information on this? I found this page but the link referenced within that page just goes to the main UCATS page, and I can't seem to find The Grid info that it says should be there.

The grid is OK for a few people and a few coolers. But when you have 40-50 people at your tailgate with generators and TV's and laptops and grills and tables and chairs you cannot haul all that stuff back to the car. And I am not going to leave it all out in the open on the grid.

Kroger lot will not be an option as it will be a construction site for the next 6-10 months.

Because there are only 100ish spots at the Grid.

Maybe I'm mistaken, but as I recall when they established the Grid, one of the selling points was that there would be security there during the game so you could leave your stuff out and come back and continue after the game if you wanted.

I have tailgated at the Grid since it opened, and will continue to do so. They have Police that walk around, but how do they know if people are taking stuff from a tailgate that it is not theirs? At least this is what I was told when a bunch of people had beer stolen out of their coolers during the UCONN game a couple years ago.

What needs to be done to get the closed down short Vine designated an outdoor open container spot per the new law in Ohio?

That just means that I will have to get to my tailgating spot behind Martino's even earlier!

Corry to Euclid to Charlton to Martino's lot. You don't have to tough Vine.
