Okay but is that honestly any different? It's still censoring.

It's fine for a non-governmental entity, such as the owner of this site, to delete whatever the heck they want - not so fine for a governmental entity. They can disable all public comments or allow all public comments. Anything in between those two options ...

RE: Cost of Attendance
Compare and contrast leadership styles:

Quote: "W&M prez Taylor Reveley (signed same letter as Alger) says W&M will not adopt COA stipends and 'it's not likely at all we will reconsider.'"

and

Quote:"The joint statement of philosophy is based on a variety of factors and, as it relates to JMU, is a reflection of our current circumstances - not of what we might do in the future." - Jon Alger

One stands by his signature, the other equivocates. Who would you follow?

I was pretty distraught all day after the letter came out and couldn't sleep well all night bc I was so steamed. Whatever you all have planned to convince BoV this leadership is a catastrophe, I'm all on board. VMIgate may have been the best thing that has happened to us. Their little slip up has given us more insight into our Leaders' direction than anything JMU has provided us

The damage has been done.

The real Jon Alger was reveled when JMU agreed to the Carr Report only after George Mason was the third large VA State university to leave the CAA and Alger and Bourne received thousands of emails expressing fan and alum concern.

Alger has to be forced to communicate and then, it's a non-committal minimum that he knows will never go anywhere while he is the President of JMU.

Disappointed that my respectful email received no reply from Bourne or Alger. Maybe they'll get around to it by Monday.

While I've never sent one to our president, I have sent several to our AD and a few coaches. With our AD its always taken about a week to get a response. With Matt Brady, it was immediate. With MM it tool three months. I haven't sent Kenny Brooks one but I sent one to Sean O'Regan where it took a couple days.

RE: Cost of Attendance
A) I'm sure they received a lot of emails.
B) Since they are all on the same subject they have to determine the response.

I think it's good for a ton of emails so they can understand a lot of people are concerned.

I've sent emails in the past for th reason just to voice my concern. It can't hurt.

Alger has responded to my emails quickly in the past. Not this time.
Complete silence.

Likewise, I am always respectful because it is a demanding job with multiple competing priorities.

I would be surprised if he responded to these emails. He has made his position clear - then backtracked. He instructed someone to suppress comments on facebook eventually leading to removing the actual post. This is a no win situation and he is hoping it just goes away. He is not going to perpetuate the situation by personally responding to a bunch of emails from small time donors like us.

You will get a response next week that will read something like this

Sorry for the delayed response I was enjoying watching JMU play FBS football in Texas this past weekend and didn't have time to do my TPS reports or check my emails, but I'm back now so what's up?

RE: Cost of Attendance
If we get responses from Bourne. The responses will be similar to this, "thanks, we care, would you like to drive to Harrisonburg and talk, you can buy yourself a cup of Java with your previous DC donations?"

We can respond, "I asked a question, you have not answered the question. Previously, we have talked, I asked the same question then, you did not answer the question then either...seriously consider enrolling in a college prep course called Reading Comprehension at Blue Ridge Community College and take that fancy lad Alger with you, send me the invoice for payment"
