We were a great nation once. We had big dreams and did miraculous things. Then we we became obsessed with who gets the most goodies ($$$) from Washington.

Pathetic.

RE: Are you proud of this country?
Some of you are just whining because the wrong guy (in your opinion) got voted in as President. This country is much bigger than the Presidency and always has been.

We guarantee a lot of countries' safety. If there's a humanitarian disaster overseas, our navy is usually the first to be over there helping. Lots of Americans donate to causes worldwide. We still invent lots of stuff in this country and we're the leader in exploring the final frontier. And we do it without being authoritarian, in a country where hard-working people can advance themselves.

Lots to be proud of.

Actually, we still could have if we didn't spend trillions on 2 wars that weren't really necessary. Bankrupting the country one of the things Bin Laden intended and in that sense, he won.

For what we were once, what we are now, and what we can become, I'd say we're doing allright. More than allright.

That ominously sounds like you're saying one world government is not only inevitable; it's just around the corner. Yikes.

Your values point is absolutely correct. Conservatives in the U.S. have much in common with conservatives in Israel. Ditto for socialists in both countries. But there isn't much common ground between conservatives and socialists within the U.S., hence our constant bickering over every little topic.

Maybe it's not around the corner, but I believe in time we become one community. We are becoming more alike as info continues to be available. Look at our evolution as a species. Families evolved into tribes, then kingdoms and empires, then nations. With connectivity today plus how much more interconnected we all are economically, I think one world gov't is inevitable so long as technology continues to develop. Maybe 50 to 100 years from now.

Proud? No. Happy to be an American?...Damn Skippy. With all our problems...still pretty damn good place to live in comparison to most of the places one could reside.

I do however fear for the future of our children. I hope technology and science can provide them a different paradigm that I can't see right now. I think that is their best hope of actually living better than us.

I am proud to be an American and I am proud that we have a country that allows us to have the discourse we can civilly have. Proud of all Americans, I am not, but I'm very happy to be an American and feel blessed to have the freedoms that I do have.

Sometimes. My generation is a cesspool of brain-dead, lazy, SJW, socially marginal freaks so the outlook isn't very bright.

Social Justice Warriors.

A pejorative term for an individual who repeatedly and vehemently engages in arguments on social justice on the Internet, often in a shallow or not well-thought-out way, for the purpose of raising their own personal reputation. A social justice warrior, or SJW, does not necessarily strongly believe all that they say, or even care about the groups they are fighting on behalf of. They typically repeat points from whoever is the most popular blogger or commenter of the moment, hoping that they will "get SJ points" and become popular in return. They are very sure to adopt stances that are "correct" in their social circle.

The SJW's favorite activity of all is to dogpile. Their favorite websites to frequent are Livejournal and Tumblr. They do not have relevant favorite real-world places, because SJWs are primarily civil rights activists only online.

They're the people who used to be relegated to minor local town meetings but for some reason because they have access to social media, people are acting like they matter. They don't.

I'm proud of this country. Is is perfect? Heck no, but I'll take our imperfections over any other country's every day of the week and twice on Sunday. There's a reason millions of people risk their lives just to live her. We shouldn't take her for granted.

I agree with most of that.

It bears a question. If millions of people want to be Americans?... Why are we hell bent on destroying everything that has made America great?
