RE: Per Tony Kurre: UAB AD with a big announcement
Nothing in regards to Football is considered of any importance to the UAB admin. They killed it. Made up excuse after excuse to keep it dead. Finally ran out of excuses. Lets reinstate the program's so they'll shut up. The UAB admin didn't get their way, so they're gonna be as unproductive as ever. Freeuab wants a football program? Well, yall fund it bc we don't want it.

If the UAB admin was serious about this reinstatement. Clark would've had his new contract between June 2-4. Our assistants on payroll up til yesterday would've had new contracts just days after Clark got his.

They wouldn't leave it up to the NCAA to say when we should return. We should be proactive to field a team as soon as possible. Not understanding where people think dragging this out is doing it the right way.

So, you are saying UAB should have informed the NCAA when we would be starting. I don't think it works that way at all.

The NCAA has their own agendas, they aren't worried about UAB. The day they decide what UAB should do will be the first & only day they gave any attention to this subject. If we are waiting to hear from NCAA on what we should, I don't count on hearing it anytime soon.

As long as we are announcing when we will be playing without regard to what the NCAA says, maybe we should announce we will be playing in the SEC as well. The SEC has their own agenda too and is not worried about UAB. So if it works for the NCAA, it should work with the SEC as well. 01-wingedeagle

The point is that you can't play NCAA ball until the NCAA says you can play. You don't just decide when you are going to do it.

No. If your Ingram, you ask the NCAA to work with us in fielding an FBS team as soon as possible in CUSA. You don't parade around saying 2016 is out of question(which it isn't). Possibly 2017 too. Oh you know what we may not even be FBS til 2020 or 2021 & hopefully CUSA ignores that, is pretty much what Ingram said a day or 2 after reinstatement.

Funny, I haven't heard Ingram say any of that. I have heard him say 2017 might work better than 2016, but not that 2016 was out of the question.

I have heard a lot of fans putting those words in his mouth though.

I get what you're saying. Essentially, it's help them help us get back started? I don't think Ingram is just in his office twiddling his thumbs, though. If he engaged Nike in talks prior to the contract being up, then I think it's fair to speculate that he has approached NCAA and CUSA officials.

It was more of him insinuating that 2017 was more ideal than 2016, which probably kills interest of 2016 recruits Clark had been after.

Ingram has shown no urgency about anything to do with the process of getting football back on the field. I fully expect a 2017 return now.

Ok, but that's not what you said. You said he was, and this is a quote: "parade around saying 2016 is out of question(which it isn't). Possibly 2017 too."

Gonna be super hard to make anyone happy when people are making up what he's saying.

Happens if NCAA considers UAB as a new, startup program which I doubt. Besides CUSA has been adamant about UAB being a full-fledged member much sooner than that. Ingram has said also that UAB would be a full CUSA member when we return to CUSA. I still think a 2016 restart year playing whoever we can(the number of schedule openings for 2016 are few and dwindling fast), rejoining CUSA a full member in 2017 is best. The longer the decision the more likely 2017 restart. Add to that the CUSA ongoing TV negotiations and needing to consider the Birmingham market(even though not as important a factor as before) in the equation and there is a sense of urgency on CUSA's part, as well.

Like I said. He can do nothing right. Damned if he makes an announcement, called an amateur if he doesn't.

Fair enough. I'll be the first to admit that my experience with and perspective on the athletic department has colored my perception pretty darkly. Your analogy of a irrevocably damaged relationship is apt.

I can see no profitable future when we're constantly flooding the BOT, the President's office, the media, the Alabama House and Senate, the Governor's Office, SACC, and others I can't even think of concerning decisions that have or haven't been already made, might be made, or could be made by the faculty senate, the AD, or the President. At some point either we have to let people do their jobs or go over to Lakeshore or Arkadelphia and see if we can get behind what they're doing athletically.

This is stressful emotionally, physically, and financially and has been for a very long time. Personally, I am not sure how long I can live like this.

They have shown no urgency by Clark's definition. ;-)

Well then that would be par for the course with a UAB Athletic Dept. that is overseen by the BOTAthletic Committee and Watts still in charge. So again, I don't blame Ingram as much as the circumstances he works under.

What is the rationale of getting upset with an AD that you know does not work under the most favorable conditions and circumstances? Y'all know he doesn't have free reign to do what he feels need to be done.
