UC's defense is very suspect. I'm guessing shootout, much like many of you.

I'm not worried about our offense...or players on defense.
I am wondering how the defensive coaching change will affect us...and how long it will take for us to adapt to it.

There is no adaption , Coach Galen Scott has everything under control the players and coaches trust him the coaching staffs will work together to win and Coach Galen Scott will motivate the guys. The defense will be fine. Other teams DC better be ready for this offense.

Yep, it seems Galen Scott and Bent Guy have put together a solid D for this season.

Replacing 8 starters is a tall order, but quite a few of the new starters got significant playing time last year plus we have 2 or 3 transfers coming in that will help. One thing for sure: it's easier to rebuild a defense than an offense.

Winning the AAC West will be a challenge. Houston and Navy will certainly be tough, plus the other schools, having young players are on the upswing.

Besides OL Ryan Mack from Louisville, who else transferred in that can contribute this year?

We brought in two safeties and a defensive tackle from junior colleges. I assume that JC players aren't signed unless the staff thinks they have a chance of helping right away, at least with depth.

Juco's are different than transfers. The latter either 1) graduate and are looking for another program typically for their 5th yr (ex: OL Ryan Mack) atypical for (graduate in 3yrs) 4th and 5th yr (ex: QB Jacob Karam) or 2) leave their program (voluntarily or involuntarily) (ex: DE Ernest Suttles).

Jucos are recruits that are recruited during the offseason to attend a University. Yes, we signed 5 on defense:
DT Edwards
DE Montgomery
DB Maulet
DB Charrette
DB Jordan

It would likely make for a great crowd and a great game day atmosphere if both teams happen to be 3-0 entering the game.

Nailed it

Yes we did, run to win. Something Ole Miss did not do when they had a chance to take a knee

One of the reasons we whipped Cincy was that we knocked out Gunner Keihl early in the game.

RE: Memphis vs Cincinnati 2015 football season
Cincinnati fan who comes in peace.

Memphis beat the Bearcats fair and square last year. To the OP's point, I think what Cincinnati people are trying to say was the Bearcats were not mentally prepared for that game last year. Shame on the coaching staff and the team if that was the case (which I do think was a factor). Additionally, injuries were a factor for UC. UC was down a running back and the second string guy got hurt in this game as well. There were several offensive linemen who were injured. There were some injuries on defense as well. You guys got 21-7 quick and then Gunner went down. I think the team quit after that-- again shame on them.

I expect this to be another tough matchup for the Bearcats. As #1 point out the UC defense, like last year's group, has a lot of question marks. Our special teams group is pretty mediocre. This offense though should be pretty special. They return nearly everyone from last year. I won't be surprised to see a 45-42 score when the game is over.

The game is going to set the tone for both teams and could well determine which one of us wins our division and plays in the CCG. Very huge game for so early in the season.

It might also be a preview of the CCG.
