Estwick: Clark says he needs a new contract to help recruiting
Quote:"Having Bill because of all his relationships, for all the reasons UAB hired him, is an advantage," said Ingram, who in May was hired as athletic director, one month before school president Ray Watts announced football's return. "Trying to do this without coach would be really, really hard. Really, really hard."

To me that's a very telling article. Bill is putting a little public pressure and Mark is essentially admitting that this probably doesn't happen with anyone else.

At the very least it indicates Ingram understands how important Clark is to the program. For whatever that's worth.

March 19, 2015 UAB plays Iowa and wins in the first round

http://www.uabsports.com/sports/m-baskbl...15aaa.html
MArch 25, 2015 t Ray L. Watts announced today that Men's Basketball coach Jerod Haase has agreed to a new, six-year agreement, reflecting the university's commitment to the program's continued success as a strategic priority for Athletics.
The agreement calls for UAB to pay Haase, whose Conference USA Championship team reached the Round of 32 in this year's NCAA Tournament, total compensation of $1 million per year.

6 DAYS it took for Hasse
it's been 28 days and we don't even have a true idea about how Clark's contract is going. The $13 million is an excuse. Sign the man to a contract and people will donate knowing that there is a commitment.

We didn't hire him to play center.

True but we do pay him to make points like this. It may not be pretty but there's no doubting where he as the AD stands

Not sure what this means:

Meanwhile, Clark said the contracts of about six of his staff members will expire at the end of June. In recent weeks, the group has developed contingency plans – based on which season football returns – and discussed new ideas, such as a potential partnership with the UAB medical school.

#UAB_Football story on Bill Clark's contract talks updated w/ quote from @Jcraft24. He puts in perspective #GoBlazers fan expectations. #UAB

"He did more with less than pretty much anybody in football last year, and he's the big reason we have an opportunity in front of us that we have," said former UAB player Justin Craft, who has led private fundraising efforts.

"Within reason, I can't see anything that would keep UAB from not wanting to move forward with coach, investing in him, investing in his staff and getting us the facilities that we need to be the kind of program that UAB should be."

Yeah I thought that was kinda interesting too. I wonder if this is related to neuro or orthopedics

I like it a lot.

I have no idea what it could mean, but I could see pulling in the medical school being a big plus for a variety of reasons.

I hope it's more than merely being a sponsor. I know there's research into making helmets better, but I'd hope it's some more stuff like that, that could help both the school and athletics. In addition to that, maybe it'd swing some of those 'money spent on athletics should be spent on cancer' types into seeing the value that comes with fielding teams?

Centers are some of the smartest players on the field. They typically are figuring out blocking schemes before a olay

Why not make UAB a pioneer in athletics research? This is right square in our wheelhouse! UAB football facilities equipped with medical facilities for injury treatment and analysis, and non-invasive biophysics monitoring and modeling. Why shouldn't our indoor practice facility be wirelessly receiving and collecting real-time force-transduction from helmets and pads, tracking who-when-and-where the hits are coming, and then measuring the effects on learning during controlled study hours and controlled core curriculum classes taken by athletes (and compared to non-athletes taking the same course)?

This is a NSF grant and NFL funding waiting to happen.
