RE: Football Class of 2019
(02-27-2018 07:59 AM)ThinkBigPine Wrote: Recently offered Cannon Blauser article.
Quote:One of the top linebacker prospects in Ohio for 2019 is Hilliard Bradley's Cannon Blauser, and he was quite impressive recently at the Cleveland Under Armour Camp.
Blauser is a three-star recruit that has already put together an impressive offer list. He has the ability to play either inside or outside linebacker, depending upon the defensive scheme employed.
"I have eight offers right now, and I would say that I want to visit all the schools before I could name a favorite," Blauser stated. "I have visited Cincinnati and Louisville, and both of them have offered."
"Cincinnati said they were going to offer five linebackers, and I'm one of them," he added. "They want to take the first two to commit, and we talked about how Coach (Luke) Fickell and Coach (Marcus) Freeman are both linebacker guys. They say I fit in well, and I'm highly interested."
"I visited Louisville recently and met with their new defensive coordinator (Brian VanGorder)," he continued. "They told me how I would fit in with their defense, and that they are very interested in me. Louisville is a school I will consider very highly going forward."
There are other teams showing interest in Blauser that have not offered to this point, but that could happen down the road.
"I would say Purdue is one I'm very interested in, and I'm going to visit there in a few weeks for spring practice," Blauser explained. "I'm excited to visit Purdue, and would love to have that offer."
Blauser is currently ranked as the No. 50 prospect in the state of Ohio for the class of 2019.

That's some serious transparency there.

Spencer Bono committed to Boston College over the weekend. Didn't see that one coming.

How's the 2019 class coming along so far? Are we behind? Seems like this was the point last year where Fickell started to make up for the lengthy offseason.

Ty Van Fosson was our first commit of 2018 and he committed on March 1st. Lots of April guys last year.

RE: Football Class of 2019
Mr. Bono, was considered to be one of the most likely to commit first. Needless to say, him committing to BC came outta left field.
Beyond that, we're in the running for some quality kids. There doesn't look to be anything happening imminently. That said, with spring break over, and Spring Ball picking back up we'll likely have lots of visits over the next few weeks. We knocked it outta the park during Spring Ball last year, so chances are we'll see some commitments happen soon-ish. The Spring game is 4/13.

March/April commits have been extremely rare for us. That's one of the reasons the last class was so special. As Marcuscan mentions, the spring game is coming up next month. I doubt we'll have a bunch of commits like last year afterwards, but I would not be surprised if we real in 1 or 2.

GCL kid to Boston College should never be out of left field. I feel like the Diocese has a slush fund specifically to fund those moves with how many kids have gone up there over the years
With that being said, this isn't a huge miss considering the line talent we have coming in on the '18 class. We're pretty well stocked in the two-deep for a couple of years at least...now if this was an OLineman, I would be pissed.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Ought to see some movement around the spring game.

Great to see a linebacker. Hopefully some offensive line help as well.

Cannon Blauser said in a prior post "Cincinnati said they were going to offer five linebackers, and I'm one of them," he added. "They want to take the first two to commit, and we talked about how Coach (Luke) Fickell and Coach (Marcus) Freeman are both linebacker guys. They say I fit in well, and I'm highly interested."
Does this commitment push him towards committing?
Would be nice if it did. Would love to have the LB recruits "out of the way" early.

IDK, there's Jestin Jacobs (Clayton Normont) out there as well. While he's not a Crystal Ball on 247, I have to think the coaches really like to get him.

As much as we've hosted, Mr. Jacobs, I gotta think he's the preferred target.
I suspect that it was a wise move by, Mr. Ingle, to get in right now ahead of everyone else. I'm happy to keep that LaSalle pipeline in full efffect.

Connor Foster commited to Northwestern. That's a surprise, he seemed like a lock, so did Bono though.

Swing and a miss on another solid local O-lineman.

We are really struggling to recruit the Oline.

As good as a coach as he may be, it's far past time to wonder if Ron Crook can recruit at this level...

RE: Football Class of 2019
Haven't seen anything indicating we're involved but I thought I throw this out since he's a legacy that some here might remember:
Quote:Wide receiver Darrell Harding has the kind of size and speed that excites college recruiters. He’s a 6-3, 191-pound 3-star 2019 prospect from West Orange High School in Winter Garden, Fla.
West Virginia’s offer was the 10th that Harding has received. His father played college football at Cincinnati, but ACC programs such as Duke, North Carolina and Wake Forest are leading his recruitment.
Harding told 247Sports recruiting reporter John Garcia Jr. that he hopes for offers from power schools such as Ohio State, Stanford and Clemson.
His physicality and ability to high-point on deep balls is particularly attractive to college recruiters.
Harding is ranked as the 95th-best prospect at his position.
This is from 2013:
Where Are They Now: Darrell Harding
