Jarboe may have been ( I have no idea how he really is today) ONE of the very few who will change after and truly reaching his last chance......I do a great deal of counseling and advising young folks in my daily work.........and while some of what I may say helps......there is only one person who allows themselves to change...THE person....Josh may have awakened one day and said....well this is it and I am going to change....No matter how good I am on a day or over a long time with anyone young person no one changes another person. Coach Freeze and for that matter coach Blakney were really good at that.....but Josh made the decision to behave at Ark State...and for that you guys were the better for it....and hopefully Josh too.

RE: Eagles pick up 4 Star LB from FSU
Haven't read through the whole thread, but I doubt it was something minor. When it's something minor, you get slapped on the wrist and get no PT for a few games. This had to have either been major, or a persistent violation of team rules for him to get dismissed from the program altogether. It made me curious and I found this link which hints that it might've been him failing numerous marijuana tests.
When you've been given a damn scholarship to attend a university and play football, consider yourself blessed. Whether it was something major, or whether it was something persistent, this guy obviously still has a lot of growing up to do for him to do something stupid enough to be booted altogether, and I'm willing to bet a lot of more notable programs probably didn't wanna touch him after getting booted from a place like FSU, which is hardly choir boy central to begin with.

If he doesn't pan out for us, then so be it. But if he lives up to the billing, then we won the lottery.

EXACTLY. It's one scholarship out of 85. For a potential talent like that? I say it's a good bet.
Even if it doesn't pan out... Well, then I'll just gloat and say "YOU FOOLS!" but in secret, I'll still say it's a good bet.

Even if he doesn't live up to a 96 rating, I'd be he still lives up to being a quality player as long as he stays on the straight and narrow.
That would be the only thing that would hold him back.

But, for those that left with issues we've had much worse luck. Demetre Baker, 4 star transfer from UGA, and that CB from Western Mich (can't recall his name) come immediately to mind. Both were dismissed from their former team and were eventually dismissed here. Good luck though. I believe in second chances.
Demetre Baker was actually voted off the team by his teammates. That speaks volumes.

He was dismissed from FSU for violation of team rules, but from what people are saying, it wasn't a major offense.
Hope he pans out but, let's face it, getting dismissed from a team is pretty serious. One has to assume that either the offense was indeed serious enough to get him dismissed, or it was an excuse used to get rid of a problem child or one who was not performing up to snuff.
getting dismissed from a team is pretty serious. getting dismissed from FSU is down right scary
Lets get real, it depends highly on position and who you have recruited behind him. Kids get dismissed from programs like FSU all the time but they are just not the heisman level guys so you just don't hear about it very often. If you got a four or five star recruit or redshirt coming next season on the depth chart especially after an injury you are a dead man walking for the soulless P5 coaches like Jimbo if you get in trouble. There is not a person on this board that knows who Ira Denson or Greg Reid is and you would not know who this guy is if he was not coming to a Sun Belt school.
Honestly for FSU good defensive guys are a dime a dozen, much easier to make an example out of him rather than a heisman first round QB.
Not big on transfers but I am sure the coaching staff has done their due diligence. Also I believe we have not given out our full allotment of scholarships the last two years so I doubt it will affect any subsequent classes as we are still trying to get to a full scholly team. I also think his old high school coach has been guiding him through all this as well. We will see, I think he will get the year back and hopefully he takes advantage of this opportunity. There are plenty of examples of it working out both ways and not a one of us knows right now.
