Looking like the renovation could really happen. Good news!

That would be so sad if my kids had to spend a year or two of their college lives going to the Gardens like I had to when I was in school.

At least their probably wouldn't be Xavier banners hanging over the front entrance.

It's been happening for a while.

Really hope they look at NKU as a one year home. The Gardens are a tomb. If we play there it will look like one of those preseason tournaments that nobody attends.

I would rather they retrofit Armory-Fieldhouse for a couple of years.

Couldn't be any worse than playing in another state or going to the dump downtown. I remember Bohn saying we might split up our games between multiple venues. My vote still goes to Cintas if possible.

Yep I remember that too (about multiple venues).

Part of me also wonders of the tweet was not strategically put out there to leverage other bidders (US Bank, Bank of Kentucky, Cintas).

I don't see the big issue with playing at the Gardens for a year.

First off, we're getting Fifth Third renovated. I'd be cool with playing at some playground for a year to get that to happen.

Second off, yeah it's a bit run down, but what are the true negatives? Location isn't bad, and all games would look pretty darn packed in there (Capacity is 10,282 per Wikipedia). US Bank Arena would look abysmal with 6k fans early in the season. Not to mention how cheap/stubborn the US Bank people supposedly were when UC considered moving down there full-time with a renovation.

I'm with ya. I do not see the big deal. I remember some pretty exciting games in 1999 at the Gardens. It is exactly like the Nippert situation. Make the best of it for a year. When we return to campus everyone will finally realize what a horrible idea to move the games off campus.

Edit: That was 1989

I always associate the Gardens with losing to the mighty University of Missouri-Kansas City. The Fighting Kangaroos. I blew off studying for a final exam to witness that disaster. Had to stay up all night and take the test on no sleep to make up for it.

I will admit I would prefer the Gardens (past home of the Musketeers) for a year over Cintas (current home of the Musketeers).

No to the Gardens. It's a dump and in a bad area. The Banks makes US Bank arena my choice. Plenty of food and bars before and after the game. I'll say it right now I won't becoming to a game way out there.

I'd rather play at Cintas or US Bank but I'll go wherever they go. While Bank of Kentucky is nice I think it's enough out of the way to hurt attendance badly.

Did the tweet get deleted? Seems a bit premature to be posting something like this.

Yes it can. A terrible venue in the middle of downtown Fallujah.

if they split it up among venues even less fans will attend. Its hard enough keeping track of what channels games are on from week to week.. 03-wink

Cedric Glover had some monster games in the Gardens. One of my all time favorite Bearcats. Tough as a coffin nail and a good guy to boot.

Have any of you who are saying that it wouldn't be that bad actually been inside that building in the last few years?

If you think US Bank is a dump, then the Gardens are a waste treatment facility. It is in about 50 times worse shape.
