RE: Deleted post at request of jag fan
I think that EKU or Missouri State's moves are marginally relevant. I wouldn't be upset reading about them on the Sun Belt board. Its not like Lex is posting a billion things here either.
And I'm not a supporter of EKU's candidacy at this point. But I don't hate them and wouldn't be appalled if they got an invite.
Is there anyone who is strongly opposed to EKU's candidacy? Not just opposed (like I am) in some sort of mild way, but really against it.

I get the feeling you like Liberty more than USAJAGS likes us as a candidate.

Well, it's not like there is an obvious expansion candidate out there that just screams "Invite us" Well outside of JMU, who isn't interested in FBS apparently.
When your choices come down to EKU, Liberty, CCU, and Missouri State...EKU starts looking a whole lot better.
FYI, I think COA is very relevant for discussion on this board. If we do ultimately expand, COA is going to be a very important question that will immediately be asked. If any of our potential options decide to pay COA, it should be very notable because their chances of an invite go up.

Liberty is offering full cost of attendance for all of its sports while Coastal and the rest of the Big South is offering cost of attendance for men's and women's basketball. I'm not sure what Missouri State is doing with cost of attendance.

Apparently the vast majority of SunBeltbbs regulars prefer Liberty University as an expansion candidate. I can understand their logic as Liberty University Athletics has a national following. Plus they have almost unlimited resources to devote to athletics due to their innovative online curriculum. However, I do think its a bit much to delete threads that discuss any non-Liberty University expansion candidates.
Got to tell ya' I was a little miffed at a Jag fan's response to move the thread I started regarding EKU and coa for basketball. The reason is that numerous times EKU fans have been asked about the seriousness of our plans to move to FBS. Over and over again we have been asked what those plans are. So I post something regarding EKU and our plans moving forward and someone wants it moved. Okay. Done.
On another note. I had a good laugh this morning on how far south this thread has moved.(Or is the above post joking and stirring the pot? ) If I am correct in what I have been reading for months on here, many of you are as much against Liberty as some Jag fans are against EKU. And then we have the above post. Funny how things get misconstrued on a message board, guess you have to have a sense of humor.
Tell you what Jag fan, I'll try to curb my enthusiasm for EKU on your message board, if you will try to curb your enthusiasm for EKU negativity. I may be wrong, but I would guess you know little about EKU, and most of your objection is based on innuendo and speculation.
How was the request to move the thread perceived to be so negative? And why paint so broadly with your brush concerning Jag fans? I'm not opposed to EKU; I think it would serve WKU right for leaving and be hilarious in the process. People request threads that can be perceived as pimping to be moved all the time. What I don't see is USAJags stating negative things about EKU. He only asked for the thread to be moved.

Usajags has constantly criticized EKU's candidacy. USAJags also SENT us/me a message on the OVC Board regarding NOT posting about EKU on the SB Board.
Quote:Post: #1All the great things happening at EKU
This is where all your wonderful things belong. If/When you get the invite the the SBC or any other conference, then you can post on that conference site. Until then, this is where you belong.
Good luck and your new football stadium should be very nice.

It Is very evident he has a burr you know where regarding EKU. IF we/EKU should not post here regarding EKU as a possible candidate, then I would like to hear from whoever is the SB Board police about it. The only reason I posted the original info was because for 2 years we have been asked questions about our viability as a possible member. I guess the moral to this story is, everyone is not going to like you and everyone has a difference of opinion of what is relevant and what is not.

Lex do not worry about upseting any poster on this message board except the ones that are MOD's on this message board. If one of the MOD's have a problem will a thread you post they will move it, delete it, or let you know. The rest of us posters will we can like what your post or not like what you post. Us Georgia Southern fans will just turn it into a Georgia Southern thread if we want too.

I agree, this thread has gotten way out of hand.

I do wonder how the Big South is going to do that... Just offer it for the men & women's basketball.
I would figure (and this is just me) that like... Soccer players would be pretty pissed about it, and want some too. Then Track... etc.
Given the litigious nature of our society today... Isn't that just opening the university (and the conference) up to lawsuit?

The legal ground is that basketball is a headcount sport, while the others are equivalency sports in terms of scholarships.
