Here is one of our what seems to be prerequisite NAIA games. We host Siena Heights at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 20th.

Yep, so far I only count three D-I home games: Vermont, No. Florida and Detroit-Mercy.

We have a very good road schedule, but home schedule isn't loaded with D-I teams, at least yet.

Are we still doing the EMU Classic?

Doesn't appear so or at least no word has leaked from any sources.

Remember that there are three visiting teams and getting three teams to visit and three more the following year is tough to do.

What is surprising that we're not doing an 'exempt' tourney on the road or at least neutral site.

A Tweet suggesting that MAC bball schedules will be released Friday:

"One more basketball note. I believe Ohio will release schedule on Friday. MAC is doing so then with conference slate."

I don't even think Duke or Kentucky fans are posting about basketball schedules right now. 100% focus has to be on football right now.

You clearly don't know either fan base very well. They never stop talking about basketball, even with Duke finally having a good football program. Basketball will always be number one with those schools.

Hoping we get Ohio and Bowling Green twice in the crossover games (or even Buffalo at this point). With our luck, we will probably get stuck with Akron and Kent State.

I think the MAC is going to be very top-dominant this year. Akron, CMU, and Kent are probably on a tier of their own. Teams like WMU, Toledo, Miami, us, and Northern Illinois are likely the muddled middle.

There is a lot of interest in schedules, esp. OOC games, and doubly esp. those at home.

This is true both for basketball and football.

And lest we forget, basketball, now both men and women's, are carrying the load for EMU revenue sports.

Hell, even the EMU women got top lead in a Washington Post (AP?) story about women's hoops on women's bball conference tourneys...

I like CMU and WMU (and EMU) in the West. Plus say one or two from the East to battle for the top 4 spots which get, I believe, a SINGLE bye this year.

And yes there are some teams like UB and BG which will really struggle this year.

UB has a rookie coach to boot. BG has a new coach. Forgot if he is a rook, as well.

I know we have attendance issues but I loved having a Fri-Sunday slate of games at the Convo early in the season against all Div I competition. Sounds like a budget cutting issue to me. I wish we could get a corporate sponsor to underwrite some of the traveling expenses for the visiting teams and help with promotion. Yeah I know that's a pipe dream.

Likewise I'm shocked that we are not doing an "outside" tournament which is good exposure for the program. Not sure the reason for not doing this. Seems we have a lot of new players and these exempt tournaments prior to conference play is a good way to help the team "jell". Again not sure if this budget related.

I wouldn't be surprised. The budget attachment to the Regents' packet mentions a '(money) transfer to men's basketball' (hope I got that right). Apparently revenues/expenses are not in line.

Did I read that it cost EMU 75K to host a 4-team tourney? 25K to each of three visiting schools?

Apparently we can't find a corporate sponsor to put up 100k for the teams and lets say exclusive advertising for a three day event. That's pretty sad.

Of course if I was a sponsor I would want to see interest and people actually attending maybe you know 6-8000 per night.

If we ever get a new football scoreboard it would be interesting to see what the advertising revenues would be or would not be.

I think we are living off of those big money games (e.g., MSU, Louisville, etc.) to pay the bills.

The only MAC teams which can get over 5K on a semi-regular basis is Toledo and Ohio. That's it.

By the way MSU has posted its non conference schedule and I'm sure many MSU fans are not happy with home schedule and the $$$ they pay to go to games.

So the Siena Heights game is NOT an exhibition, correct?
