The area around Joes has changed dramatically as to development and parking is at a premium.
Agreed. I think you gotta keep it near the loop, near the trains, ie the old NIU "big announcement standards like Ditkas/Harey Carrey's/ect are ok. If it's at a Chicago location not near a train, one of the brewpubs like Goose, Revolution, Lagunitas, ect might work. Couple it w/ beer. Maybe even Cubby Bear could be an option too.
Wish I could have gone, was working PM shift last night.

They could do it at Trophy Room...not sure if they really have an event area though.

Live down the street from Joe's and didn't know about this.. marketing may need to improve some.

All you would need to know about it would be a twitter or Facebook account and be following NIU football or NIU athletics, or have your name on the NIU athletics email list, or be a member of the NIU alumni association, or a be a season ticket holder.

Or check the Athletics website or this board once over the last month.

I'm a season ticket holder, and member, but I (like most people I imagine) get literally hundreds of emails of every day. And I follow a few hundred people on twitter, not just NIU athletics.
The fact I went to Joe's a couple of weeks ago randomly and didn't see any signs about it could just mean I'm an oblivious idiot. Marketing existing vs. marketing being effective are different things. I work with a few NIU grads (also down the street from Joe's) who are interested in athletics and they didn't know either. I'm not saying they didn't make an effort, but it didn't hit with my group unfortunately.

Just wondering...so you think a simple poster at Joe's a few weeks before would have gotten the message to you?
Any other thoughts? They were really disappointed with the turnout but I would bet that there are many others like you who would have gone but the info was just lost in the mass info of social media.
