Moonpies are OK. Never consider them "good". I'd take a Swiss roll or fudge round over a moonpie any day.
Nick Saban disagrees with that statement.
Saban doesn't eat Moon Pies, he eats a Little Debbie each day.
and I heard she loves it......

RE: Arkansas State "Full Go" on Cost of Attendance
Schools better be very very careful about full cost.
The calculation system is not very precise and the variance between two similarly situated schools points out that some financial aid offices take a broad view and others a narrow view.
What we don't know right now is how the NCAA will review those calculations.
We are talking about an organization that included in its violations list at Boise State, an incoming freshman living for a month in the apartment of another player and not paying half the rent.
If you choose to pay full cost you better be prepared if you pay on the high end to get very careful scrutiny from the NCAA if you are playing well enough to draw attention.
If you take a broad reading and pay what you think is the top end you better be ready for the prospect that the NCAA will rule that you exceeded the aid limit for 300 players.

So basically, no matter what you do...you may be screwed if you start winning too much.
How is this different from now?

As of right now, Texas State is not either. UALR is only doing it for basketball
The Texas State AD has stated that "we have the intention of providing full cost of attendance." He also stated that "we just have to plan this out. We're not rushing into making this decision. It could be tomorrow or it could come gradually."
I don't see this as any different than what Lynn Hickey, the UTSA AD said regarding COA, that "our intentions are to fully fund that. We're just looking into how quickly we can step into it."
You can't be an FBS program in Texas and not provide full cost of attendance.

I have to admit,I'm semi stunned that Conferences are letting schools apply the full federal formula that causes so much differentiation.
If their college choice isn't hard enough that now they have to factor an inequivalent expense pay scale in the mix.
I can only assume the fear of litigation have kept common sense entities from mandating a monolithic expense formula across the country to aid this fiasco.

Instead of finding 4 or 5 violations if they think you were too generous in calculating cost of attendance you just committed 200+ violations per semester.
It's a difference in getting your knuckles rapped and being turned into a smoking crater.

It would be prudent to get prior approval before implementing FCOA

Ah there is the rub. NCAA so far won't pre-approve.
This is one of those places where athletics has to be careful because they are relying on people on the academic side who aren't viewing the world through the athletic lens.
Old timers remember when FIU got sideways with the NCAA. Their problem in one of those was because people in the academic affairs office were certifying athletes based on school rules rather than NCAA rules and neither side understood they were talking about different things.
If a financial aid office has taken a broad view so that kids can qualify for more in loans and aid the folks in the athletic office need to view it cautiously because they aren't speaking the same language.

We know that. It's just a Little Rock newspaper that barely gives anyone not named the Razorbacks the light of day that doesn't.

Saw on MAC board where Miami University is going to award $763 in-state and $1873 out-of-state for COA. I guess stAte will have a recruiting edge over the MAC schools. Other schools better jump on board quickly. This will really play into recruiting moving forward.

What is ULM paying?
a bag of pork skins, a moon pie and a big RC Cola.
I know we don't see eye to eye, but at least don't diss a good Mobile snack.
Tig, its message board BS! I love it. You take this crap too seriously you'll have a heart attack. You are too young for a heart attack. Im not, I may have 5, maybe 6 good months left...(just kidding, too many stogies to smoke and bourbon to drink to pop off just yet) Heres to you and I continually bashing heads. Peace. BTW, I love moonpies, even though they are half the size they use to be. Later,

Whoa a Bourbon man as well? Should I bring some Angels Envy with the Sweetwater 420?
I'm not a Troy fan because of wins and losses.

Rock Town Distillery in Little Rock is rolling out their five year old bourbon (place is five years old) on June 20, 100 proof. I have already reserved a bottle. Their fast aged (using small casks) wins all sorts of awards.

Interesting. I'm not familiar with them, but I will look into sampling their products.
