Yes, that is the same Appalachian State that went toe to toe with you guys last year in an exciting game(with a 1st start freshman quarterback). . . . . . a game that you won by the skin of your teeth, dang it! LOL!!!

Really a shame we dont have a spot for App in CUSA. Great football tradition, and it appears they're going strong so far in the FBS move up. It would be nice to have another team people in the east are aware of.

We don't have the market to even be considered by CUSA, and even if we did, we're coming off one of the worst years in our athletic program's history. Not to mention, our biggest supporter (and our biggest reason for wanting to move) in our initial push for CUSA has now moved on to the AAC.
Also, as much fun as it would be to be in a division with Marshall, ODU, and Charlotte, I still don't know if it would be worth leaving our biggest rival in Statesboro.

Yeah, we had a very similar struggle at home against Alcorn 2 weeks earlier.

At some point CUSA needs to consider strong academics, a tradition of athletic success, fan base and geographic fit too. Market is great, but the other factors should weigh equally. I think App St. brings everything but the market. Same could be said about JMU.

Our basketball is on the upswing. And we have had a few good years here and there. Not consistent to be fair, but not always in the dump. I think we have a good coach now and we do have a large team. I don't mean big in weight but we have something like 23 on the team the last time someone counted.

It is becoming a bit of a joke. We had some APR problems that are getting cleaned up. I think he is offering a bunch of preferred walk-ons and seeing what takes and what doesn't. We can only offer some many schollys of course but no limit on how big the team can be at least for home games. All we need is a chair for them to sit in and that is cheap.
It in a bit unorthodox, but I have no problem with it. He just might find a diamond in the rough that would not happen otherwise and if not, the guys have the pleasure of attending school in Boone, NC. That alone is worth the offer in my book.
