RE: ESPN
I think the FPI is just a formula based on last years production and what you have returning so it doesn't really factor in the competition you play and isn't really a ranking of how good the teams are.

Doesn't get old.
It's ironic though because their football promotion videos that they release are really top notch now.

RE: ESPN
I think there are any number of teams that could end up #2...still believe Boise State is the team to beat...if anything they are stronger than last year. #2 doesn't get you much in this P5/G5 split, however.
I'm sure I'll get run out on a rail by my fellow posters, but the upper half of the AAC looks particularly strong this year, with Cincinnati, UCF, Houston, Navy, Temple and Memphis looking good, if they don't beat each other up during the season. I think across the board, they look stronger as a conference, at the upper end. If one of those teams emerges with only 1 or even 2 losses, I think they'll be in a #2 position.
I also think that anyone from the MAC, MW (other than Boise State), C-USA or Sun Belt can afford no more than a single loss to be in contention for the #2 spot. And it's hard to see anyone in those conferences with only a single loss, based solely on published schedules.

The best we can hope for is parity in the other G5 conferences. If the AAC is 5 deep, then great that means none will go unscathed. One can hope the same for MWC.

According to Steele, UCF..Memphis and ECU all not so hot with returning starters. Cincy, Temple and Houston maybe the favs. Marshall, LT and WKU would match up well . It could be another yr before you see the on the field superiority of the AAC that many Herd fans espouse(if ever). I just like my league a lot.

No mention of UTEP? Alright...that's fine. I guess we'll just have to shock the G5 nation.

Fastest way to get the president to take video promotion seriously is to release one that everyone makes fun of.

I don't know if we deserve to be that high, but we have a lot returning. That is worth something at this point in the season. Though I put little to no faith in this sort of report at this point in the year.

The Hot video was not for football. And though still nothing to be proud of it was designed for a specific audience. I am not sure I want to be a part of that audience but for a certain benefactor type it played well enough and that was its purpose.
I have learned to embrace it.

Hold up. Is this the same Appalachian State we beat last year, or did another school by that name open?

Looks to me like CUSA has the most teams in the top 60 of the Go5.
