coastal would not be a peer to any sbc schools..barely 10,000 students only a few degree programs to offer and not even a phd. not much to offer sports wise either. you guys are not very picky.

I will address the ability to be a peer university once #1&2 have been addressed.

Until those are addressed... I can't even consider it.

Liberty aside, why would the SB want to add a team that averaged 8,000 a game? Can you say Ga. State all over. Makes no sense.

This is not official but there is no way Coastal is going to be added as an all sports member for 2016.

I agree. No one (other than Liberty) can turn key the FBS process prior to June 1. If you don't declare by June 1 but before July 1 you are plain vanilla FCS in 2015 but ineligible for post-season, FBS transitional first year in 2016, still FCS and still ineligible for post-season, FBS transitional second year playing an FBS schedule but ineligible for post-season in 2017.

If you can't announce by June 1, there is no reason to announce until after the 2015 football season.

Never say never. But I agree, likely invited after football season 2015 with full membership by 2017-2018.

Roughly the same enrollment as the AState campus in Jonesboro and four slots below AState in the US News rankings, almost 20 slots ahead of Troy with more students on campus than Troy, about 25 slots ahead of ULM with more students on campus than ULM.

If Coastal is too small and beneath the ivy covered walls of the Sun Belt go ahead and expel AState, Troy, and ULM because we don't fit either.

. . . . Wait, We've, got Ivy Covered Walls? . . . .

I agree...and you're right, we have spent less but we're not doing too bad.

- 2014: $20 million spent on new football turf, new football student grandstand/team meeting rooms/visitor locker room, soccer and track facility, and lacrosse/field hockey field

- 2014: $500,000 spent on renovation and additions to the academic athletic achievement center

- 2013: $3.7 million spent on men's and women's locker rooms, coaching staff offices and film room inside of JQH Arena (basketball)

- 2009: $2.7 million renovation of softball stadium

- 2008: $67 million spent on JQH Arena (basketball). 11,000 seats

Careful, guys. It has been our experience that talking about your athletic spending will be held against you.

Their turf is at least easy on the eyes. Look up Eastern Washington or Central Arkansas.

Coastal are known as the Chanticleers

Maybe just maybe because they don't carry the baggage, discriminate, force students to attend convocations and don't teach the "Junk Science" that Liberty does.

There is no Liberty aside in your question 03-troll

No IA conference will willingly take Liberty, if they do they just might as well take Bob Jones University also. That and take Oral Roberts and let them start football.

If you live in Charleston, you would think you would know how to properly pronounce Chanticleers. Neither of you phonetics matches how folks in Conway describe the name. And for the record, their mascot is Chauncey.

Now back to your regularly scheduled but factually bankrupt shots at Liberty.

Point well taken. Having crossed the Yeager bridge a few hundred times myself, I can see why he would be clueless about anything south of Bluefield.

RE: Astate's John Brady talks expansion
I really thought at one time before we moved up that we (GS & Coastal) had the makings of a potential rivalry. I just can't see them getting an invite with a Mercer size or smaller stadium, heck D2 UWG is on par with that. It's a novel idea, and the location, but in two years Kennesaw State could be just as ready to move up as a newbie and closer as CCU is now (same size stadium) but with 30,0000+ students to lean an increased athletic fee on. It'd be an attendance win for GSU in the off years with GS and not too far for App either.

App has played Coastal a three times in football, all in Boone. It's about 300 miles between Conway and Boone and they travel decently well. Moglia is a solid coach who was once in charge of TD Ameritrade, no joke. Basketball has danced a couple times recently and baseball is top notch.

They also have a recruiting advantage because of a state law saying if an out-of-state student wants to major in something that isn't offered in his home state public schools, he can go to Coastal for in-state tuition.

Coastal is an interesting discussion. They would have everything to gain by moving up. However, would Texas State and Lafayette want to fly teams into Myrtle Beach? That's the big question.

And they have a teal field.

I sold my BMW Motorcycle to a guy from Dallas .
I picked him up at the M.B. airport and he drove it home .
That transaction was made possible by having an airport.
How many SBC teams have airports big enough for teams to fly into ?
