RE: Early 2015 C-USA vs G5 Predictions
We could definitely lose Georgia State but I'm confused about what they've done to make everyone pick them. Charlotte has a lot of experience returning and half of it is FBS talent.

The only reason i think there is a bit of rivalry with FIU, in particular, is that Miami is smack dab in the middle of prime Herd recruiting territory for us. That's going to stoke the rivalry flames a bit. I've been to Miami and FIU's campus twice for games and was well pleased with how we were received both years. Last year's game was fairly well attend, and a good game in the first half. The Panther's came out ready to play and took us by surprise.
I do think that FIU's defense is excellent and is going to beat some people, particuarly if their offense begins to catch up. FAU has played us strong both years and we had a last second field goal two years ago to win in Boca. Plus they had an outstanding recruiting year last year.
I see good things ahead for both squads.

Our basketball team split the season series with you, and had a better conference record. Our baseball team won the season series @ Marshall and we finished with the same conference record. You got us in football.
So in two of the three largest sports, FIU finished ahead of Marshall this past season. Or is football the only thing that matters to you? I should point out, I have a great deal of respect for the Marshall program, which has a rich history...

Last year, C-USA did well in its performance against other G5 schools, and it will be difficult to repeat that feat this year. There are some tough match-ups and the rest of the G5 is going to be gunning for us, since we did well last year.
This year, C-USA teams play 17 other G5 teams. So what is your overall prediction as it relates to C-USA wins and losses vs. this group of teams.
My prediction? 11-6
What's your prediction?
For reference, here is who we play from other G5 conferences:
Charlotte: @Georgia State; Temple 0-2
FAU: @Tulsa; Buffalo 1-1
FIU: @ UCF; @Mass 1-1
LaTech: ULL 1-0
Marshall: @Ohio; @Kent State 2-0
Middle Tenn: None 0-0
North Texas: @SMU 1-0
ODU: @Eastern Michigan; Appalachian State 1-1
Rice: Army 1-0
Southern Miss: @Texas State 1-0
UTEP: @New Mexico State; 1-0
UTSA: Colorado State 0-1
WKU: @Miami (O) 1-0
Damn I got 11-6 also. I could also do 9-8 best could be 13-4 but that has no real chance.

I think we'll beat Appalachian State at home. I have a lot of confidence in Coach Whitcomb having Shuler Bentley ready for this year.

I'm guardedly optomistic about this game. Both teams came on toward the end of the season, but I think App. St. lost fewer major pieces. I'm glad we're home. Could go either way.

They have played FBS competition already and we haven't. Even though they have yet to win against an FBS team they have plenty of experience already against those teams and we simply don't. Add to that it's a home game for them as well and it's just safer to pick Georgia State at this point.

Yeah, well, even if they averaged 30K it would still be swallowed up by the other 37K empty seats. Hope for their sake they get that new stadium at Turner Field.

While most of us really hope that Charlotte gets off to a fast start, like UTSA did before you, all of us realize that the step up from FCS to FBS is far bigger than you may realize. Plus, I don't think you helped yourself with playing no FBS teams in your transition period. It's just not good preparation, imo.
But again, prove us wrong...we'd be delighted

I see what you did there . I'm a little surprised that everyone is picking Georgia State as well. They were improved last year, but I still see that game as 50-50ish, or 60-40ish type game.
It is a huge one for us. Although the ability to compete is more important than our win-loss total next year, our ceiling for wins is lowered drastically if we don't beat Georgia State.

10-7 sounds about right. My gut tells me that SMU is better this year and NT's win will be close.

UNCC should be able to bring 3-4 thousand and each season brings hope, I'd expect 15k plus which is very good for them.

I seriously doubt we bring that many fans. Tough sell to spend Labor Day weekend in Atlanta. The only way I got my girlfriend to agree is that we would fly out of there Saturday morning.

First football game of the season playing less than four hours from your alumni base, time to step up.

I wouldn't worry about him. His school can't even properly fund baseball.
