Zero Turn Mower Question
Went to cut my grass using my Hustler zero turn, pulled the lever to engage the deck, and nothing. Deck won't engage. I'm assuming it's probably a belt but thought somebody here might know.

RE: Zero Turn Mower Question
Does it even try to engage? Sounds like the electric PTO clutch may have gone bad - or the switch that controls it.

When I pull up on the engage button, it does not go all the way up now, but I do hear a slight 'click.'

OK...so I don't understand riding mowers, but I thought I'd bump this thread.
Before you can engage the deck, which means lowering the blades so they can cut, you have to first start the mower. Repair guy is coming out Wednesday, they think a switch went bad. I hope so, grass is so high I could barely see the herd of Antelope bounding across my lawn this morning.

Zero Turn Mower Question
Here's where you went wrong. Hustler is best at girly magazines. For zero turn mowers, I like my Kubota.

Yeah, it was great until my subscription ran out, then it broke.

Me too, until this, but everything breaks at some point. I researched the heck out of these things before I bought one, and got a ridiculous deal out of Arkansas, it was like $1500 better than the best price I could find anywhere else.
Repair guy was supposed to be out today, thinking it's the switch, but he had to put if off until Monday. I saw a lion stalking a wildebeest in the high grass, so I hope he hurries.

RE: Zero Turn Mower Question
If you get desperate, I know a place in Dyersburg that can likely fix it. In fact I know a couple, but the Hustler dealer would be faster.
Probably a bit out of your way, but maybe a safe distance away from the hungry lions?

Thanks, I don't have a trailer so I'm kind of dependent on the guy in Moscow who picks it up, and in this case was just sending out his repair guy. That's pretty good service, except when it's not.

I had to think about that one. We have mountain lions.
I heard something screaming last night. The AC repair guy said it was probably a bobcat, but I don't think so. I'm thinking a cougar...not that kind, the kind you have.

Yep; probably the electric switch that engages the PTO, so it shouldn't be expensive and you should be able to replace it yourself. With any luck, repair guy will be able to ID it at your place and ship the part to you without having to take it in. Hopefully, he won't take it in for the sake of charging you more for the service.

I'm hoping you're right, but me replacing a light bulb maxes out my technical ability. However, the dealer is sending him with the switch thinking that's it, so hopefully it isn't too bad. Especially with everything else that has gone wrong lately.

Remember when we were teenagers and they gave us those vocational tests? Then they told us what we should do when we grew up.
Mechanical and Persuasive were two of the categories. What did you score in those parts? I remember mine because together they added to 100%.
The test wasn't measuring aptitude....just level of interest.
