Good food in Lafayette
I'll be in Lafayette for lunch today. Some food recommendations would be great. You got to one up Lake Charles, I ate at Botskys and it was fantastic. I've eaten a lot of Cajun food the last three days but not against more.

You're best bet would be to get some of the locals to just set up their tailgate and cook for ya (still some of the best eats I ever had during my trip down to cajunland in 08).

Acme taco-tacos but really good and different styles
Olde Tyme grocery-poboys
Bon temps grill- cajun/seafood and steak
Dons seafood hut-seafood/steak
Twins/judice inn/ fat pats- all 3 are great burger places
Deanos Pizza- cajun twist on pizza... Also great burgers and poboys

Twins had a radio ad saying they support UL athletics. Seems like a sign

Twins burgers are good. But if I were stopping in Lafayette, burgers
wouldn't be on the top of my list.

Had to do Twins. I am a twin myself so couldn't pass it up. That said it's hard to pass up Cajun food. I've been to about every Cajun joint in Jennings the past few days.

Swung by campus. Looks great. Baseball and softball fields are top notch. Football looks nice and can't wait to see those improvements. Basketball is okay, the dome needs a paint job.

$20 mil + improvements to the dome starting soon. They've already started on some repairs to the brick columns around the dome and have done some exterior relighting. Part of the dome improvements will be the roof, which is probably what sparked the "paint job" comment. Lots of streaks up there.

That's awesome to hear. Lafayette is a lot bigger than I expected. Traffic heavier than expected but seems like a great town. I'll have to come back for a game now and spend more time. The drive from Houston isn't too bad.

Thanks for the kind words. I just wish I hadn't seen this thread on the tail end of the lunch hour, or I could have made some suggestions of my own.
How was Botsky's in Lake Chuck? I do a lot of work in the area, but have never been. I enjoy a good dog. Fat Pat's, which was mentioned earlier, has some great ones. I'm a no frills kinda guy, and I don't like places that try and make a bad hot dog good by just having a variety of toppings available, while the meat and bread is just so so.

Botskys was one of the best craft hot dog places I've been to. You pick all toppings so it's yours to mess up

Sorry, but you didn't eat good Cajun food while in Lake Chuck. That was a cheap imitation.
Plate lunch.......Dwyers Café
A serious meal....Riverside Inn or any of the zillion other spots around town.

Nah, that loss was like water off a duck's back. A big bowl win eases all the pains felt from a long season. Ya know what I mean.
Then again, maybe not.

Hey when one of us wins in a bowl we all win. That's what all that conference unity, feel good crap is about right?
