Staying AT actual Atlantis hotel rooms ia extremely expensive. We went to the Bahamas for our nephew's wedding last summer at Breezes all inclusive resort. The package deal with airfare for the two of us was $1800 for five days/four nights. The same staying at Atlantis for two would probably be $4000. The problem with flying to Nassau is the the flight home would be in the expensive Thanksgiving week. We would definitely try to go but would stay at another resort.

Can you use the Atlantis amenities if you stay at another resort? The waterslides would be a big selling point to the wife. Heck, I may not even tell her about the basketball until we get there 03-lmfao I have to both slowly sneak the money aside and sell it as something larger than basketball games to get final approval. Guess I have plenty of time to do my research.

I know someone who stayed at an adjacent resort but was able to use Atlantis amenities. Not sure if that's the case now or not.

RE: 2016 Tournament
I think when you have a port day on a cruise in Nassau you can buy a day pass. I think even of you actually staying at Atlantis some of the things still incur a fee like the various dolphin encounters. Some of the wedding attendees last summer just caught the $1.50 city bus to Atlantis. There's a small fee to cross the bride from the mainland over to Atlantis. I think some of them just paid to do some specific water attractions.

Charlotte is in the tourney this November. Maybe we can get some info from some of their posters when they return.

There is never a small fee when you cross the bride. There are many years of misery to be paid for that. 03-lmfao

RE: 2016 Tournament
I just priced the package as if it was this NOV. Flight and 4 nights $1486 per person. That's using the least expensive hotel room option. The dolphin encounter in the shallow area but not the other dolphin stuff included. Water park attractions included. Does not include hotel transfers, food and what sounds like a required room attendant gratuity of $5 @ day and a $45 gaily "Resort fee'...whatever that get you! You can add various meal plans The least expensive includes breakfast and dinner for an extra $400 per person. Ticket package last year for all games was $310!! The package for just the three games your team would play- $80. May end up having to use my house's equity line!

I would personally vote for the Las Vegas tournament at MGM! MGM Grand Main Event or something like that.

But Atlantis or orlando seem likely

The Vegas tourney 8-10 years ago was at the Orleans Casino was great and very reasonably priced. SW had a non-stop flight to Vegas, you stayed in the hotel, walked down a corridor right to the arena. Food was not expensive and pretty good. We played UNC and BYU.

See, I got thrown by "mainland" because you don't really think of the Bahamas as having a mainland, so in my mind I envisioned a Florida-Bahamas bridge had popped up overnight. Alas, no.

We thought the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel was an accomplishment....FL-Bahamas Bridge would be a game changer!! No, Atlantis is on Paradise Island just off Nassau which is on New Providence Island. Learned all my Bahamas Islands history last summer at a wedding!
Oh, I also looked up the adjacent hotel that can use Atlantis' amenities. It's the Comfort Suites. The package would be $200 @ person less. The other poster is probably correct....with all this commotion it will probably be some other tourney!!

a bit ironic this comes up now because I just returned from there yesterday...due to short-notice necessity, we (my wife and I) ended up at the Comfort Suites and are VERY pleased we did...it is not only adjacent to Atlantis, but almost connected to it and comes with full, no-fee Atlantis access (pools, beach, waterpark, etc.) for less than half of what staying at Atlantis costs (you just have to get a wristband for each day)...our King Bed small-ish suite was $235 a night after taxes and fees...this plain Jane hotel is rated 4 stars because of its location and value for the money...be advised that all of Paradise Island is a tourist trap and everything is expensive (the CS includes a basic hotel breakfast btw)...if you want more details on saving some $$ let me know...

ADDENDUM: We originally booked the brand new (so new it's not open yet) and massive Baha Mar resort for this last week but their grand opening was delayed (hence the Comfort Suites Plan B)...so Baha Mar is complementing our next stay which I have already booked for Thanksgiving week...that would be some double irony if ODU is in town!...it's not on Paradise Island but close enough...

We actually played UNC and Louisville. BYU played a great stretch to beat them.

Any word on this?

FWIW, the Battle 4 Atlantis field is filling up. Louisville, Michigan State, Wichita State, VCU, St. John's and Florida Gulf Coast, plus whatever team represents CUSA and one more team.

if VCU is in it would that mean we are likely out?
