The police officer who killed Walter Scott in South Carolina laughed about the adrenaline rush he was feeling, in a conversation that offers a new insight into his mindset in the minutes after the shooting.

Patrolman Michael Slager made the remarks during a discussion with a senior officer after fatally shooting Scott in North Charleston on 5 April. A recording of their conversation was obtained by the Guardian.

On April 12, 2015, Freddie Gray, a 25-year-old African American, was taken into custody by the Baltimore Police Department for possession of a switchblade.[1] While being transported, Gray fell into a coma and was taken to a trauma center, where it was determined that he had suffered injuries to his spinal cord and larynx.[2][3][4] Despite extensive surgery in an attempt to save his life, Gray died on April 19, 2015.[4]

Police in Aurora, Colorado have now confirmed that they shot an unarmed man in the chest while handcuffing him. The victim’s name is Naeschylus Vinzant. He was on parole since March 2nd, but police say he absconded when he removed his ankle bracelet.

When we asked police about the shooting they began listing all of the bad things that Vinzant, 37, had done in his life, as though listing these things would justify their shooting him in the chest while being handcuffed, and while he was unarmed.

Broken homes that lead to continued poverty and the next generation becoming accustomed to living on welfare. Young girls figure out they can sustain themselves on government checks by having babies. The young men have nothing but streets, drugs, and crime to turn to. The cycle is perpetuated with each new generation that grows up this way.

Kids aren't taught the value of an education. They see musicians and athletes that made it without the understanding that they are one in a million. They look up to characters on TV that are career criminals living a lifestyle that very very few career criminals actually live, nevermind that they are still criminals. They grow up knowing that if they don't get a job they can just get a check. They feel they are owed something.

Government policies made fathers unwelcome and unnecessary. They destroyed black family structure, something even slavery couldn't do.

Why are your numbers only include black men killed?
